Powering EcoFlow River Pro with bed outlet

Anyone powering an EcoFlow River Pro with the 100W bed outlet while driving? I thought this would work, but the bed outlet light turns off within a few seconds when driving. Seems the EcoFlow draws more than 100W, which turns off the power. Anyone else experience this / find a workaround?

 

I use the DC plug and the cigarette outlet in the cab. I wish the inverter was more than 600W so the EcoFlow could fast charge.

 

Yeah, I have a fridge in the bed powered by the EcoFlow, so it’s in the bed. The EF app actually has a slow charge AC setting, still no dice with that, I think it takes a bit over 100W.

 

You can do the 400W anytime mod. By defualt, the outlet is 400W with the ignition on and drops to 100W in drive.

The River Pro draws 650w~ when charging from an AC outlet. When you turn on slow AC charging, it limits it to around 100-150w~. As others have said, you can do the anytime 400w mod. I recently got the EcoFlow River Pro as well and have a 100w solar panel hooked up to it 24/7 (mounted on the roof rack) and it keeps it charged with my fridge running.

 

I have the River Pro as well and you have to set it up via the app for "slow charge" which as many have stated will put you around 100-150w. The issue I ran into was it was hit or miss on whether it would still kick off even while driving. Sometimes it would run fun other times it would still turn off, had the same issue with plugging my

Dometic CFX3 35 into the outlet (I know not efficient).

I think to effectively run something off the outlet in the bed you need to do the 400w anytime mod as it is so inconsistent otherwise.

I just cut to the chase and put a 12V outlet wired direct to the battery in the bed. I can plug the Dometic directly in, charge the River Pro (not fast but it works), etc. while driving or with the truck off. I can charge the River Pro via my solar panels or DC while camping if I don't have shore power. This also lets me keep the cooler powered directly by the Taco if needed as well.

 

I keep looking at the delta 2's. Would they be able to charge in the bed with the 400w anytime mod or would that fail to charge, trip a breaker or even potentially cause other issues?

 

Before you do the anytime 400W mod- check if the unit is able to charge when the truck is running but in park. This should allow the 400W option on the bed outlet.

If you need a 12V outlet in the rear, its probably easiest to tap into the trailer plug wiring, and then use the 12v charging option on the ecoflow.

Or you could run a bigger inverter off the battery for 120V charging of the ecoflow while the truck is running.

 

I've done the 400w anytime mod, just wasn't sure whether 400w would cause problems in that it would strain the inverter, blow the fuse or under volt the device.

 

I can’t get my goal zero or eco flow to charge off the bed outlet. Even adjusting to a slow charge. I read somewhere it had to do with the batteries not liking the modified sinewave the Tacoma inverter provides

 

The only time I have been able to consistently charge my EF (I have a few models) using the bed outlet is when it is in Park and I have it set on 400W. If I try and charge when it is in D it will always "trip" the outlet and shut off, even with the EF set to slow charging. I don't have the 400W anytime mod. This is my tertiary charging option for the EFs so not a huge deal but it IS frustrating that I can't even charge it at 100W while driving. At some point I need to look at upgrading the inverter and/or doing the 400W anytime mod.

 

Watch this. I run a simple dometic 12v power source into the bed gets me a consistent 100w charging. Just returned from a 2 week road trip. Delta 2 powering the fridge. Never dropped below 80% until I bought a bunch of meat in Montana and cranked the freezer down to -5 degrees

Did you install the Victron DC-DC charger from the video or are you saying you ran 12V to the bed and charge the D2 using the "car charger" cable? I have a 12V run to my bed and use it to run the Dometic when in flight and then will switch to the EF when I am at camp.

We have a square drop that we camp in and I just upgraded to a Delta 2 Max as my primary power source to run the Dometic and Starlink. I have a pair of the EF 220W solar panels to keep it charged as my primary option, ALP propane generator as a secondary option (only supports about 600W to the EF), and then the truck as my tertiary. I went the EF route mainly because they were portable and I could use them at the residence during power outages.

Looks like a great trip to Glacier, we went about 15 years ago and really want to get back!

I started with this as fast easy solution and so far the 100w from the cigarette charging seems to be enough. So haven't found need to run a more complicated system to bump up to more charging power. I've also got 220w folding panel when stationary for extended time

 

I have the ecoflow delta 2 and it won't charge using the 400w plug in the box.Dropped the input to 200w in the app and still nothing.Delta 2 just clicks.Can get 100w with 12v in cab.

 

LOL, sometimes simple is best...I did not even think about running this way when out driving around to top off the EF. Duh!

 

Are you parked or is this while driving? If driving a number of issues, e.g. 400W anytime mod needed. If you have already done that mod it looks like the issues is going to be the Toyota inverter not providing a pure sine wave to the EF. Take a look at this thanks to @OnePuttBlunder ...
