3/8" top spacer with 5100's/884 ?

wanting to do 5100's set at 0 / O.M.E. 884 = I think 2" of lift in front ?wanting best ride on the cheap. $350.00 ,was now thinking 1/2-5/8" more lift would be perfect , if I use 3/8 top spacers from( wheelers) would this mess up ride? thats why i didn't go with stock coils/5100's set at 1.75 or2.5 .. also what about caster/camber problems with this set up,Ithink it will be 2 1/2 to 2 5/8 of lift. 09 a/c with 265/75/16 duratracks

 

As I understand it, the toytec 1/4" spacer would get you 1/2"..

I have the 884s and 5100s currently. When 1st installed, I was getting 2.75".. I hear that 4x4's will get a little less. I have been meaning to measure again as it has been about a month since the install..
Just remember greater than /equal to 2.5 you may need new UCAs to get spot on alignment.

 

Ithink I'll go with 5100's &884 2" of lift, someone let me know if this incorrect. installed duratrax this morning looks mean but a little loud, not to bad. right now stock suspension in front/ ride rites in back truck seems to handle bumps on road harshly does anyone know if this is do to bigger tire size, is their a way to fix this? steering stabilizer/damper maybe

 

I have done almost what you are looking at. I think Racie is right mine is a 4x4 and , initially recieved 2.5 inch lift , it soon settled down to basically 2 to 2 1/4.

Racie is right as well with the magic number of 2.5 inch + as right at the range when UCA issues start. Every truck is different tho. A member that did use 5100 and 884 is NFL.

As for the rough ride on bumps.. Have you tried adjusting your ride rites to see if there are differences? Not sure with those what the psi should be with bed unloaded.

 

been out doing yard work.feel good. Elwood thanks for the links , I have a/c does this mean I wiil get more lift then your d/c ? doesn't really matter If I go over 2 1/2 & need uca no big deal (she'll let me back in the big bed in a few weeks) maybe.
Raycie I'm 4x4 I have topper & camp with small trailer so bags are perfect for me I run 10-15lbs when not hauling, you need min 5lbs. I think

 

if you want something around 2.5 maybe look at the toytec eibach 1.6 coils and put them at the .85 setting. Then you dont have to buy spacers also. just a thought. there are tons of people on here who run it so you could ask them about ride quality. but all ive read it rides nice.

 

I wanted 2". did research thought 5100's ome 884 would be 2"lift in front I'll ajust rear with bags. I knew about over 2 1/2"-3" maybe needing uca hit & miss & thought this setup would be better then 5100 at .85/eibach=2.5 then after ordering parts I starting thinking can I push it for 1/2-5/8" with out uca (op) I've deceided no spacers. but now looking for anwser 09 a/c 4x4 + 5100's at .0 ome 884 = how much lift ?

 

I would think a little more than what i got because your truck weighs less. Traditionally the 885 coil for my truck would be around 3 inches. I went with the 884, which is the same spring rate just 10 mm shorter, to have less than 3 inches. The 883 coil is the same spring rate just another 10 mm shorter. The 10mm in length equals around an inch in height. I would check the differences in weight yours vs mine and then you could better judge if you would get between 2 and 3 inches.
If your gonna do uca anyways then i wouldn't worry too much. Whatever you do to the front you do to the rear if you want to keep some rake, or do less in the rear to eliminate some rake. I tow so wanted the rake to stay. The new OME coils allhave an X on them to show they meet the newer testing for fatigue.

 

My DC LB 4x4 with 884 & 5100 ended up at about 2.75" without the spacer. It has been on there for over a month now and no sag.

 

weird... Nlf still has 2.75 and elwood (installed after nlf) sagged immediately..

what gives?

 

Not gonna lie, I was not intending on 2.75" but it works. I just measured on saturday, so I am sure this is where it sits.

 

I have not sagged. I measured after installation AND driving it around. If you check it right after dropping it on the ground the number will be higher as the suspension has not receded to ride height. I have a solid 2 inch right now and the alignment is booked for thrusday. I am not expecting much of an increase but it might when the geometry is striaght. I measured a stock trd at the dealership and it was 34 inches from the ground to the fender (front). I have right now 36 and a little bit ground to fender (front). 2 inches from stock setting.
I have measured a 5100 shock from the bottom setting to the center of the bolt and got 8 and 3/4 inches. I will check mine when i get home and see if they are the same as the only difference from NFL and mine is the shock. Maybe the bottom seat is higher than the bottom seat on a 9000??? IDK

Sorry the other difference is I have aftermarket skids and a topper.??? some weight but i wouldn't think alot.

I have measured mine. Now this is by no means an exact science but mine is 8 inches. If I had both sitting on a bench in front of me i would feel more comfortable with the results but there "could " be a difference. To be as close to accurate as i could i measured from the front of each on the passenger side of each truck. From the bottom of the coil down the center of the shock body to the center of the lower mounting bolt. The guy i know in town has 5100 's and mine is a sport 9000. "So" if this has some merit ,and i hope somebody in the know will correct or support me, that a bottom section of a 5100 strut has an extra 3/4 to 1/2 inch in length??

chris4x4 could you help with alignment #'s 0 or slighty negative camber / 0 toe / and 2.8 positive caster if they can get it ? I have 265/75/16

 

Chris.. if both shocks have same seat height, then why the big differences (at least in my mind) between trucks?

NLF - 4x4 / 884 / 5100 = 2.75"
Elwood - 4x4 / 884 / OME shocks = 2.00"
Raycie - 2x / 884 / 5100 = 2.75"

 

Guys - Not sure. I believe mine are installed properly, been on there for about 2 months now and no sag. Sorry for the quick iphone pics...
