yes, going deaf you won't care about the dinging, and going blind you won't care about the dome light.
getting old has its advantages. i'll wait rather than do the OP's fix. :D

Tie a string to the wire then tie it to the switch. Just let fall in and when you need to plug it back to pull the wire side back up with the string

I hope all the ribbing is not affecting the OP. Aside from female, which should not matter, being new and getting this "less than mentoring" reaction is bound to intimidate. It is not meant to be, it's just what goes on here. Not mean spirited, just careless pleasuring ourselves.

Edit: and one poster here was not quick enough with the delete key. I saw it. probably hoping his wife didn't.

Caveat. I'm assuming you're trying to defeat the key in ignition / door open ding. If not, oh well. Maybe someone else is.

Same here, took me 3 years to finally ditch that speaker. I do miss the turn signal sound, but it's worth losing that to get rid of the beeps when you start the truck before putting your seatbelt on, the beeps when you open the door before turning off the ignition, and the constant beep when moving the truck with the door open. Finally can use my truck in peace!!!

in case you chivalrous horndogs did not check out OP's intro post, she is not a young girl, so calm down
Her intro thread is "Old woman, newish Truck" and she's probably laughing her ass off right now.
In my experience, women that understand their trucks will eat your lunch if they want to.
Just yesterday I got the best excessive compression in a chainsaw explanation/fix from a youtube bad ass woman.
All the guys were dragging out their youtube clickbait. She had chops.
i know - off topic - but i love when someone breaks out of a stereotype assigned to them.
and hey - its friday.

i don't drink anymore due to health issues. learn to use emojis and when to use them and when not to.
and i was not specifically addressing you, even though i quoted you as an example. sorry you took it that way. my bad.
i was addressing general misconception of several posters in this thread, including mine, until i looked at OP's profile/posts.

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.

I'm confused. If you're trying to completely disable the door button, why not just unplug it, instead of drilling it out, and adding washers? I think you can disable it in carista, too. That way you don't lose your dome light.

Another solution would be to put it on a switch, so you can turn it on and off as needed, or do what I did, and put it on a relay, so that it turns back on when the engine is shut off. That way you can shut it off when you want to listen to music, without losing your dome light or security system.
