yep, vermintrex is the reason i am hesitant, that thread. that is why i was curious about if i changed the tire size vs. what he had would it prevent the rubbing. he had to lift to prevent rubbing and was running 265/70/17, but i was proposing 265/65/17. that would make the tire ~.5" further away from whatever would rub. this whole thing sucks because i can't get a similarly styled wheel and i've been waiting since i bought the thing last year. rota, konig...volk. no luck in getting much, especially in bigger than 16" and in that style.

    thanks ; )

k so it seems running the OE TRD sport tire size 265/65/17 is the key to having these work without issue on an unlifted truck.

    dustin confirmed this.

I dunno about 265/65/17's but mine rubbed badly with 265/70/17's and the Type X BEFORE getting lifted, bad enough that I'd want to be able to try 265/65's on the Type X before I committed to them.

Now that I'm lifted they don't rub at all except in reverse at almost full lock. Not bad enough that I've felt like trimming, but that may change once I get off-road this summer.

thanks for your input. i can understand your concern.

i spoke with dustin again and he assures me (several times, actually) that with no lift i will not rub whatsoever with the 17x8 -10 if and only if i stick to the OE TRD Sport tire size. i don't have front flaps but he said with that tire size i don't even have to remove flaps.

    we'll see!

Dustin probably knows better than me...you probably won't have any trouble.

    Good luck

thanks dude. yeah it's the tire size with that particular fitment that is so crucial. i'll let you know how this piece turns out.
