Thanks to the hook up here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-aka-clutch-release-bearing-finally-here.html I printed out the TSB and took it to the dealership. After a 30 second inspection, they told me they would order the parts. Parts came in by COB that day and today they did the install. 8 hours later, my truck is squeak free!!!!! Also, when I first got back in the truck to leave the dealership, I almost pushed my foot through the fire wall when I went to depress my clutch. It went from an EXTREMELY heavy clutch to a feather light one. (Personally, I like that.) I'm not sure what all they adjusted, but it feels like a whole new truck, and is quite as a mouse now!!!! Ill keep you updated, but the service writer (who also has a Taco 6spd...and I told him to check out TW after he finished drooling over my truck) told me that it is a "beefy" version of the old throw out bearing. (No specifics though.) I did help that the service writer is also getting this TSB done on his personal truck. Ill keep you updated, but for the time being, I am happier than a pig in mud.

So it's been a few months since that TSB was released. Are the people who've had it done pleased? Did it actually solve the problem long term? I'm still suffering through the chirping as my warranty is long gone but I don't want to cough up the scratch for the fix unless i'm SURE it's legit.

I had my master cylinder replaced 2 weeks after taking the truck home. I also put my foot through the floor when I got it back. There is an adjustment to take the slack out of the plunger and stiffen up the pedal again. I prefer a heavier pedal than a light one.

I would love to see the pics of these parts.... and the biggest problem I have is that those assholes at HQ will not validate the rest of the tacos circulating out there past the warranty.

Glad you chimed in Larry...i meant to ask you about your manual tranny over the weekend. Mine didn't start chirping until 100k or so. I'm at 113k now and it's pervasive.

Had mine done for the second time in December. No squeaks as of yet. Maybe 2500 miles on it.

Sounds like a belt chirp with the engine idleing and your foot off clutch. Rest foot on clutch pedal and chirp stops.

The crickets have invaded my engine... My truck has the symptoms of this TSB. Going to schedule an appointment for the fix after Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully, there will be no problems.

Has anyone experienced the chirp a third time? The dealer replaced my tranny at 47,000 (May 2008) to fix the problem which was covered by warranty. Now I am at 95,000 and the chirp is back. I don't want to pay $1,500 (dealer quote), just to have it go out again at 140,000 miles.

You might want to checke out the trans. sleeve kit form pdmtsk.com and urd makes one also.

I second what mak90 said. I have one of them in the truck. No more issues and you can flip toyota off. the dealer fix seems bogus.

    good luck

I've had similar issues with the 6 speed manual. Interested to see what everybody says about it well after having the TSB done.

The TSB is just something HQs came up with to keep the owner happy for the next 30k miles...by then, the owner should be more than SOL and close to out of warranty! I went PDM kit option and they installed it on their time and money. And flipped them off too.

I've had this shit happen to me 3 times. First time was at 36k miles, second time at 51k (both under warranty), now I'm at 110k and the chirping is back. Going to get either the PDM transmission sleeve from URD. Just talked the manufacturer (PDM)--he said he has sold 500 kits and has only had one bearing issue with mod. Ordering it right meow.
