Walmart installed my 35" Kenda Klever R/Ts for free after they couldn't balance them. But I've never had any bad vibrations so score other than waiting around for them to finish like a dumbass

Side note : to get around the "we can't do non doorjam", bring them in with a different vehicle so they don't even know what it's being installed on.

Went right passed it. Shop by size not vehicle. The in the cart it gives you the option to continue to cart w/o vehicle info and schedule appointment.

I understand this. But this is policy across the board. So it's up to the management at each store to follow it or not. The store I have dealt with follows it.

That’s crazy. Then I guess they’ll stop carrying any oversized tire from all the manufacturers.Gonna cost them a shit ton of business from the truck world.

Order my tires online and my local, independent Toyota Shop installs them for me. Only one size up from stock/door jamb size though.

Interesting, maybe state specific. I can’t get that message to show up and it even gives the option to select oversized tires.

Go to a different tire shop or off-road/4x4 shop. Does 4WP mount and balance tires?

For really large tires (38"-40" or bigger) you can try a commercial truck tire shop.

What do you use? Starter fluid and match? Giant tire iron and a tub of Crisco? Or are you fortunate enough to have tire installation and balancer machines?

I modified a manual tire changer from harbor freight to use a hunter duckbill and made the center post tall enough to allow the setup to clear a 12.5" wide tire. I bought a balancer used from a dealership, cleaned it up good and now I never have to deal with tire shops again.
To be honest, installing the tires is surprisingly easy on the manual changer, the only way I would ever buy an actual machine would be if I scored an insane deal on a good center clamp machine.

DT installed my 285/75/17 and .75" wheel spacers. At that time I could barely turn the steering wheel due to rubbing before my alignment. Less than $100 otd. They switched my tire sensors into my new wheels for me as well.

Last yr they installed 35/12.5/17 that I ordered online from them. They rebalanced and rotated them for me after 8K miles. Less than $100

This post would make me inclined to believe you are right. That would explain a lot of this.
