New member here. Recently bought a 2021 Tacoma TSS Off Road and loving it. Big issue is the hood “vibrates” ALOT. Almost to the point you think it’s not shut all the way. I took it to a body shop and he made some adjustments which helped but still is an issue. Have a friend that has an older Tundra and he said that is common with the Toyotas. Anysuggestions/thoughts? Thanks.

I've had 2 Tacoma's. An Off Road TRD and a TRD Sport. Never had that issue or heard of it. Should be able tighten it with adjustments. Should be rubber adjusters that go up or down on radiator support.

Could it just be the sheet metal vibrating?

Yes, it absolutely could be. It seems fairly thin.

No. Hood shouldn't vibrate. Tacoma hoods are very substantial and heavy. Adjust !

Had this issue with my 2016. There’s some threads on here but basically there isn’t enough goop between the frame and the skin of the hood. Dealer fixed mine but it’s easy to diy

Welcome to the forum, back in 2016 when the third generation was born there was some issues with hood vibration caused by a lack of glue in the interface with the under structure and the outer skin. Haven’t heard of this issue for a long time but you might want to check it out.
Edit…Shellshock beat me to the answer while I was typing.

    This is probably it!
Mine does it too. The dealer I bought it from said they’d fix, but they pissed me off, and then of course the next dealer said it’s a warranty issue, and I’d have to go back to the first. As time goes on, I just left it, not that worried and too busy to go play games with em.

Y’all are awesome. I’ll check out under the hood. The body shop guy did all the adjustments he could. I have a sneaky suspicion this truck may have been in a minor front end accident. Maybe answer but nothing showed up on carfax. I’m kinda with Chew. Might just deal with.

At the front end of the hood, the hood rests on 2 rubber bumps. These rubber bumps need aligned (rotate them so they go up, but be careful not to last thread). Once they are aligned, the front hood isn't fluttering anymore while driving. I had the exact same issue when I purchased the truck. It takes 10-15 seconds to adjust both. The hood doesn't rest on the bumps, and it's moving while driving. That's why.

Here’s a picture of the adjustable rubber stop on the passenger side (it’s the one next to the washer reservoir mount).

A LOT of these trucks had either insufficient adhesive gluing the hood to its subframe or simply had that bond partially fail. Mine used to flutter especially when going over railroad tracks. There's a special industrial 3M adhesive which requires another specialized application gun that will permanently fix the issue. You can get it all from Amazon. I just checked my order history and can only find the applicator gun: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001SN7RKO?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title but I can't find the actual adhesive in my order history. The articles here from 2018 or so, if you find them, will have references to that 3M adhesive. And when you find it, make sure you're well ventilated as that stuff is nasty.

In fact, there were a lot of folks who had their hoods replaced under warranty at the dealer, but those replacement hoods all had the same problems, so you're better off fixing it yourself.

Besides the body shop, have you checked the hood latch itself? Maybe it's not quite lining up perfectly, or there's something loose.

I’m fairly certain he adjusted the rubber “stops” and if you push down along the from of the hood, it is super tough and has very little play. It is more the sides that “flop” as you drive highway speeds. It’s sounding more and more like it is the adhesive. I’m not capable of doing that myself (without messing it up haha) but I’m going to take it to him and show him this thread. Y’all have been awesome. Thanks again.
