Certainly shouldn't hurt unless the corroded pins are brittle and break but if they are that bad they will likely have to be replaced anyway.

Ok it is worse than I thought. Pin 16 is already broken off and after some light cleaning the surrounding pins look pretty bad as well. I've pinned my fair share of deutsch and weatherpak connectors, but I'm not sure how to proceed here. Pick up the proper pins and tools from a dealer? If that is the best course of action I can't figure out what P/Ns correspond to what pin.

Edit: I imagine pin 16 is the smaller "0.64 II (Non-waterproof type)"?

    Dang that sucks.
@caribe makaira can probably help you with the pin part numbers, he's much better at figuring those out than I am.

This is the best I can do.
If you have a pick n pull nearby it might be worth seeing if they have a 4Runner you could go chop a connector or 2 off of to salvage terminals out of.

There is usually a number on connector.
If you can get us that number. I might be able to find the connector in Toyota wiring data guide. If so, it gives pin type and size.

See if you can find a number on the connector.

See the file above, it lists all the pins and part numbers for that connector but doesn't specify which ones go where.

The 4Runner runs again! Thank you @Dm93 for all the help, I think I'd still be trying to replace random components without your advice hehe.

None of the dealers in western WA have the correct pins or pigtails in stock so I have some on order. In the meantime, I just bypassed connector FA2 with some 20ga wire. No CEL on startup and no codes after a drive cycle. Yay! My dad is elated rn, just have to put it all back together (and find the source of the water intrusion)!

Nice, glad it was an easy fix even if it wasn't too easy to find.

By the way, you asked earlier in the thread about reading and understanding wiring diagrams and circuits. If you have any more questions feel free to shoot me a DM and I'd be happy to discuss it in more detail.

I might take you up on that offer sometime. I was however able to retrace your thought process to find the problem. I've definitely learned a lot as is and I feel a lot more confident in using the Toyota manuals and diagrams.
