I haven't taken possession of my truck yet. How do you access the taillight bucket? I would like to wire up backup lights and need to access the harness to the taillights.

The Victory 4x4 bumper I bought will have a pair of Baja Design S2 lights. Plus, the sliders will have a pair of rock lights mounted at the back end. My plan is to fire the lights two ways. First is to power them from a fuse block next to the battery to a relay in the taillight bucket. The relay will power the lights on the sliders and bumper when the backup lights come on. Second, I will use one of the AUX switches on the dash to power the lights from the dash.

OMG. Can it be made more difficult? All I'm going to do is:

Run a wire off an aux fuse block next to the battery to the taillight bucket. Connect batt power to #87 on the relay. Run #30 to the light harness. Wire tap into the green wire in the right side taillight bucket, and hook to #86. Run #85 to a ground. Done deal. Ya, I could also wire them to one of the AUX switches on the dash as well, but I sure wouldn't make it that complicated. Just the black wire from S1 to a light and it's a done deal.

I spliced into the reverse light wire on the trailer plug on my truck. That way I didn't have to deal with a relay.

I didn't see a branch on the backup light EWD for the trailer socket. I'll look into this idea, though mounting the relay in the light bucket would keep it protected.
