    If some kind fellow tacomaworld member would like to help out all those lack of soldering experienced people out there, it would be greatly appreciated. Just give a decently detailed explanation of removing the existing LED and soldering the new one, using the flux, wick etc. Some pictures would be even better.

    oil change...
    hold then solder pen in one hand, a pair of tweezers in the other, apply a little bit of flux to the solder, then while holding the led (that is already on the board) with the tweezers, touch the solder point with the pen to heat it up, once it heats up you should be able to pull that side up, then heat up and remove the other side.

    reverse process for installing the new leds

    Ok so I jacked something up. Installed a few lights and tested it and they worked so I continued with the rest. Finished up and now there are a handful of lights that don't work. The Drive and Reverse lights. The Fuel and Temp gauge. One of the lights behind the LCD. I think that may be it. I took a charger that plugs in the wall and cut and stripped the cord so I could shoot power through the LED's, and some of them light up. I really don't know what to do but I need to fix it.

    Possible reasons for it not working:
    1. Did not use flux, the solder said it had flux in it.
    2. I fried some of the LED's. (but I tested and a lot of them still work)
    3. I fried parts of the board. (I really don't think I did this but.. idk)

    Please help!

    if it said it has flux, then it does...it has it in the center of the solder so it cleans it while u apply it.
    i dont think you might have fried anything but leds have to be installed right because they are all diodes and run in a complete circuit.

    the only thing i can tell you is that u must troubleshoot it by taking certain leds out, clean the pad carefully and reinstalled the leds with new solder...thats how i figured mine out

    On the charger that you cut up, what was the output rating? That might have put to much current through the LED and blow them out. Did you put the power in the wiring harness or straight to the LED?

    Do you have multimeter handy? You can use that to test each LED, or just plug it back into your truck with out putting it all back together.

    Did you put all the LEDs in the same direction as the amber ones were in?

    Lowered 3/4, debadged, led tails, projector headlights with hids, billet grill, blacked out windows, painted front and rear bumper and grill shell. Inside, 4 crappy 15's, suede wrapped headliner and door panel inserts, alpine double din, few painted pieces inside, and every led is either blue or white.
    I would double check that the led's are in the same position as they were before. If you put it in upside down it wont work

    Yep.
    like said above, I think you have put a few in reverse polarity. I did the same thing the first time :eek: hope this helps...

    On the board next to where the led's are installed you will see a little white dot...

    The led's have one corner indented... install the led's with that corner in the same position as the dot.

    I made a drawing so I am confident I put them all the exact same way the existing ones were. I think I am going to have to order new LED's and just replace all of the ones that are not working.

    if you put them in reverse polarity they will not work becuz leds are diodes and only run current "electricity" on way.

    Do the LED's run in series or parallel? If one goes out will any other go out?

    They are independently powered on the board. You could leave half of them out and the other half still on the board and it will work.

    Throw up some pictures of the PCB with the ones that don't work and some that do work. Maybe we can see something you are not seeing.

    Not all of them... generally there are 2-3 in series. So one bad one or backwards one in that particular string will cause all of them in that string to fail.

    DZA - If you get really stuck, let me know. I have repaired a few of these.
