I tried to head up to Florence today for work. I turned north on 52 towards Moncks Corner and decided to turn around. Roads were not worth a shit.

First few hours of tomorrow isn't going to be better. All that melt today is currently turning into sheets of ice

Rear full long travel including upper and lower rear control arms. 37s Mickey Thompson Baja boss MT,
And I can vouch for that left for work at 5am and most of the roads were semi-dry but there was still a lot of ice. Luckily I'm all-wheel drive so all I did was lock my center t case and just Mosing my way on into work anywhere between 20 to 30 mph

Iver never understood that, but if I makes ya happy go for it

I’m more of a 4 wheel power drift, and yesterday morning was perfect for that. Thick snow/sleet, plenty of grip and decent stopping, and empty roads. I did take my 20 year old beater with full bumpers, front and rear lockers and lots of dents instead of the Tacoma. Today it’s just solid ice mixed with black ice

When you only have 2wd you do what you can. Yeah today is much worse, walked out to head to the gym and immediately fell down on the ice.

Yep just solid ice everywhere. My pool pump decided to blow a bearing last night so I’m sure I have a cracked pipe somewhere too. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

I debated it lol. We did it last year with our 4 and 3 year old and let me tell you, they were not a fan of 40 degree water haha. They were troopers for even trying after they saw me squeal like a little girl getting in.

did a loop around west ashley this morning after dropping the little one off with grandparents for the day since daycare is closed. roads weren't catastrophically bad, but they were a bit worse than i expected. sun exposure yesterday seemed to play the biggest part in what's good and what's shit at the moment. surprised to say though that people were driving very appropriately. properly reduced speeds, increased following distances, slow and smooth accelerations from stops. assuming half of the people haven't driven in snow more than 3 times in their life, i was impressed.

Could you share some info on how you got the fuel cell to work and what parts were needed? I need to get a 40 gal cel into my Tacoma before next year so I’m race ready. Anyone chime in if u have links to installs etc.

I talk briefly about it on page 259 in the build thread. some photos as well
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...and-long-travel.163804/page-259#post-29721797

i used a 20 gallon fuel cell made by RCI for Motobilt (jeep fab company). who then modifies it by making a near perfect tacoma fuel pump opening and ring, as well as some slick mounting brackets. i'll be making two additional transfer tanks to pump into it for longer trips and races. looking for 35-40+ gallons total.

the bare minimum of getting a fuel cell plumbed and wired to a tacoma to get it running is fairly easy. it's just a question of how many of the original tacoma functions do you want to retain. i opted to ditch the EVAP system, but keep the factory fuel pump and sender. so i have a dash light for and evap leak, but my fuel pressure is spot on and the fuel gauge still works. i don't know the ins and outs of a 3rd gen, but i believe the 2.5 and 3rd gens have the evap system linked to traction control. and if traction control is out, i believe you get put into a semi-limp mode of sorts (no overdrive etc). so if you want to ditch evap, you have to also figure out how to remove everything traction control or block the evap code from making it to that system.

as far as hooking everything up goes, this is a great thread that got me pointed in the right direction. i didn't copy him exactly, but it was an invaluable resource that saved me hours of research, troubleshooting, and finding parts on the front end. I think there are now 4 of us who have used the base RCI cell in some capacity.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ck-pump-write-up-including-parts-list.757332/

the concept of using any fuel cell without a standalone ECU would be similar to above. the rci tank just makes it easier with the proper depth and opening.

I wish. Unfortunately I have a limited space in the shop for it to hang. Got a 120 inch HD projector on the screen porch though!

Geek squad guy who rolled it out on the cart went pale when I said toss it on the back.
