Sweet, maybe can make a 40 gal cell that has the correct depth and opening for the stock Tacoma fuel pump. Could I just wire in any fuel pump really if I can figure out how to deleg the evap system on my 3rd gen? I just pulled #1 and #2 traction/abs fuses so hopefully that’ll be enough for the evap deletion.

I really don't know enough about the more recent year trucks to say. I'd say crawl under your truck and pull one of the vent hoses off of the canister, and unplug one of the harnesses going into the big box under your bed. It should immediately throw an evap code. See if it affects the trucks driving and you should have your answer.

Serious question, I’m going on a 2 week trip to Hammertown. Is it safe to be ripping around the Tacoma with those fuel vent lines and upper fuel cap missing?? They snapped off and don’t want to spend the money on the parts since I’m putting a fuel cell in soon. Should I just get some hose and clamp it to the vents so I can have it vent out at the top of the bed instead of right at the fuel tank? Will I catch the truck on fire if I leave the vent lines and fuel hose the way they are??

I would definitely not leave them open. If you smell fuel then the vapors are leaking and could cause an issue with fire . Run new hose and route them somewhere safe to vent

Ok I’ll do that, what about the fuel hose itself, fuel won’t get out from there right unless I fill the tank way up high.

As a firefighter, I'd suggest plugging (or correctly venting) everything that is open. Static electricity is enough to cook off fuel vapors or fuel...and If fuel can get out, dirt can get in.

It depends on how you drive because the fuel will splash around so a very good chance some will come out . I would try and find a way to reattach it if possible

I'm in the clear now! Only vehicle related rules are: vehicles parked in the driveway must be operable, no parking on your grass, no company/work trucks with logos larger than 2'x2'

The faux fenders fooled them all last year while the truck couldn't move

Only letter I've ever gotten was when I had my Fiero parked in the driveway for an extended period while I waited for some parts. Had an extension cord running to the battery for a battery maintainer. They sent me a warning, referencing the "cars must be operable" rule. I replied and told them it was an EV and that was the charging cord. Got a reply a couple of weeks later "sorry for the confusion, we've removed the warning from your account" :bananadance:

Hell yeah! Remind me, +2 or +3.5?

Nice! you've got just a little over a month to get it in and tested before overland south. can't wait to see it.

also, jealous of the 4r CVs and that nice little c-clip. so much easier to swap shafts.

oh, maybe it's the newer 4 runners then with the exposed c-clip then. in that case, not jealous of you. had the same trouble. had to use a massive press at round fab. probably in your neck of the woods actually.
