Felt like I needed more bass (never seems to be enough)… just so happens that the Kicker 10” L7T loaded box fits pretty perfectly right behind the drivers seat and already having a spare amp laying around that has a 500w sub channel, it was too hard to resist. Was originally looking at the JL TW3 wedge box to match the two 8” w3’s behind the back seat but I really didn’t feel like spending $700 on a single shallow mount sub. The Kicker was half that price which was much more appealing. Turned out great. Essentially doubled the bass output and being right behind the driver seat you can really feel those kick drums now. So as it sits now I have 2 8” w3’s in a ported box running 600w rms and a single L7T in a sealed box running 500w rms. Before this truck, I’ve only ever installed subs in SUV’s I’ve had. Never realized how spoiled I was. Although I think this truck sounds good now, I could easily get double the bass from half the power (and half the money) in an SUV. Pretty wild.

Yep...AC products are expensive and to pay for a sub amp or other amps they design/manufacture that has a filter built in to limit frequencies below 30 HZ from being passed is about as retarded as full range amp having a built in low pass filter that prevents frequencies from being passed beyond 10 KH...Again Kicker has some amps they sell with the same kind of bullshit designed into them.

I know. And I purchased two of their amps before realizing this (luckily not new full price). And they are beautiful amps with a lot of power and function, but almost useless for bass in any sealed enclosure. For a ported, it’s not the worst idea but even there you may want to tune low. All that customization yet they could eliminate this with a simply switch to turn it off.

Running 2 - Sundown Audio SA12's off of 1800W RMS. Enclosure is 3 cubic ft net and ported to 33 Hz with 1 woofer firing up and the other firing at the floor. The front and rear doors have Rockford Fosgate 6.5's off another amp, the head unit being an old iPad mini and Clarion EQ. Since this is my daily driver for 7 yrs now I wanted to retain the rear storage for the jack, etc and keep things fairly functional. All told the build was super cheap and everybody can have a good laugh at my horrific suede wrap job, my 80lb PitBull shreds it whenever she's in the truck anyway.

And yeah, the cab doesn't have enough airspace to have the enclose work properly but when the passenger window is rolled down the bass will make your shirt ruffle and your vision go blurry. It tripped the earthquake gas meter at my house when I first turned it up.

I removed the stock subwoofer on the back wall and replaced it with a Kicker HS10 Hideaway.

I wanted to mount it on the back wall, but I couldn’t come up with any ideas except a rear seat delete, which I plan to do in the future.

For the time being, I removed the rear center console and built a small shelf for my amp and the sub.

I’ve had it for about two years now and I’ll say that it is a well built product that can add a fairly decent amount of bass to your set up. For the size and price, i think it would be difficult to find something better.

That said, proper sound deadening (100% KnuKonceptz Xtra Thick cld, ccf, Resonix barrier, lead block off plates, 3M Thinsulate, butyl rope etc) has really helped my entry level system come alive.

Other than that, I have a single din Kenwood headunit and Kicker 4 channel amp powering JL Audio C1 6x9 components up front and 6.5 components in the rear.

If I do anything in the future, I will likely upgrade the JL C1s to something better than entry level and replace the amp with a more SQ focused brand.

Did you find anything? There's the Stealthbox and then the Maui one, but there doesn't seem to be a huge concensus on THE dual sub box to get. Seems like I've been searching for a while and can't find anything solid. I think the Mr Marv stuff is probably out of the pricerange.

Going from a first gen Colorado to a third gen Tacoma.. there's a ton of space behind the seats! However, has anybody added 1-2" spacers on the back seat bolts & latch for to give it some gap from the sub? I already took the hard plastic off the back of the seat, but it looks like with any excursion, it's still going right into the bottom metal seat frame + another metal rod across the backside. I'm not trying to prematurely destroy my sub smacking metal bars, but I also don't want to lose access to a seat by not reinstalling it.

Even tho my amp is dirty, this is definitely the cleanest setup I've ever done in a vehicle, out of my past 10+ cars/trucks/SUVs.

Sundown SML 10" D4, wired to my trusty ol MTX Thunder1000.1, 600 watts @ 2 ohm, and a 1.5 farad capacitor for that extra bump support. Head unit and speakers are all still factory, they'll get replaced when I've got some extra $$ to spend.

I was thinking the same thing but Might be able to find a spacer but would also maybe take the plastic off back seat

Sorry for the delayed response, but no. I built my own. I got pretty crazy trying to maximize space while being able to fold down the seats, not remove the seat backs, and not cut out anything (brackets, etc). I had a very odd shaped box. I posted it here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/let’s-see-some-subwoofer-setups.571122/page-47#post-29810573

I may still have the measurements. If you are up to building one, I could tell you how I did. I've got two JL 10W1v2 subs in there, 400 W to each. It struggles a bit at very low frequencies due to the limited enclosure volume, but it hits pretty dang hard otherwise.

Has anyone found, or built a sub box that fits in the back area, behind the rear seats of a DC, while allowing the seats to be used normally, and fits a 12 inch sub? I already have two great 12 inch subs I want to use, but it seems like I can only actually find sub boxes for 10 inch subs. All my searching has shown that people TALK about having 12 inch subs, or websites saying they SELL 12 inch sub boxes, but there are either no photos of the 12 inch boxes, or on the store websites, the box they CLAIM is for a 12 inch sub, is ACTUALLY sized for a 10 inch sub. Am I searching for the impossible?
