Alright, need some help from fellow photographers particularly if you use Photoshop Elements? Anyone?

I have had Elements for about a month now and have had no time to play with it yet, much less learn about it. So here is what I am asking, can anyone give me some quick tips on some basics, things I should know how to do, things you like to do, and so on? Anything that you would like to share would be great, I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old, so I have been way too busy to take the time to learn.

Now before there are any replys, I will start a thread and post a link to it. Any help or tips are appreciated, big or small.

Its sad to say...especially when it's where you have to go to actually have something to do. :(

I have PE but almost never use it. The only thing I ever do to photos is crop, adjust contrast, and maybe tweak the colors a bit. I mostly use Lview Pro which has 99% of the tools I need, and a tool called Gamma Correction. I haven't found it's equivalent in PE but PE has plenty of stuff to get the same results. Just take a photo you'd like to improve and start trying all the tools. One thing I never do is save edits over the original file. Jpg files are compressed and lose a bit a quality every time you edit, save, and reopen the file. For repeated edits use a lossless format, tiff, bmp or photoshops native format. There's built in tutorials for some of the basic stuff.

Pull the trigger! You won't regret it. My suggestion is to go and play with some at a store (Best Buy etc.) and pick which one feels best in your hand. That's how I picked mine.

Browse through here...thread I started awhile back when I was looking. Pretty good info in there
