In other news, I mentioned before that I was trying to determine which Long Travel to go with. That, has been determined. This will definitely be a @TOTAL CHAOS rig. I want to go with a company that is active in this Community (TacomaWorld). And that truly wants to support us.

TC has been helpful for me, many times, working out details, answering questions when ordering. Etc, etc. I really appreciate them.

 

Do you have to use 2" for the entire cage or just the main tubes? You could save a few pounds using 1.75 for the tie ins.

 

The majority of the driver capsule has to be 2 inch .120. The remaining bars would still have to be 2 inch, but I could go with .095 wall. All of the pillars A, B, C, and D would all need to be .120. In the area, back by the C and D pillars, the cross bars between C and D would need to be .120 wall anyway because that will possibly need to be incorporated in the shock mounting (bypasses and coilovers)

If I made paper templates, and sent them to you, can you cut them on your table?

Ya, I can do that. I'll try to get them made up and scan them on my scanner at work. I'll give a measurement on a couple points for reference.

In your list of PDF instructions Part #96601 does not come up.

The URL calls it 96600. That part number does not come up in the PDF list either.


96602 is for the similar product, but for non-long travel. I was able to get the info I needed from that PDF.

Ordered a crossmember / control arm mount reinforcement kit.

I've never seen this one. I may have to order one of these kits for the Tacoma too.

 

Ordered a few things from @TOTAL CHAOS while I was at it.

 

I've already done the spindle gussets.



I'll probably take a look at further reinforcements.

 

I’m just going to say that this will be badass! Good on ya for getting Jen behind the wheels of a capable rig. I’m looking forward to lending a hand and some brain power to this build.

 

I started making modifications to the spindles for the truck, before I decided to just go the rest of the way down the Solo Motorsports rabbit hole on it.

Now those modifications will get finished up for this build.

 

Reinforcements to the LBJs.

 

This allows me to replace the 10mm bolts (original) with 12mm bolts.

I had the 10mm fail with the Tacoma. It's not happening on Jen's rig.

 

Frame motor mount perches should be gusseted if you're going fast / racing plus the Bonzen style solid motor mounts.
