My friend Andy and I reconnected about 10 years ago, some of you might recall him having a badass computer setup he left me when he passed.

First time we got together in ages at his place, one of us stood up and a crack was heard.

Andy: "Hey Chris, do you remember when we DIDN'T make noise when we stood up?"
Me: "No I don't but I'm not sure if it's because it's been so long or if the mind is going too!"

 

I also hear those noises. Age plays a factor but also kneeling for the last 40 years working on cars.
I've only just recently started to use a kneeling pad at work. Why did I wait this long?

There was nothing to do late afternoon so I was standing next to another tech while he was looking at the GX550. Snap-On walks up and I told him I needed a 14mm spark plug socket. That's the size on some newer cars. It was on my tool box. I looked at the receipt just now (he emails our receipts to us).

$97!

That's going right back and I'll get one from Amazon.

Your job doesn't help cover the cost of tools and stuff like that, that you need to do your job?!

 

They buy absolutely nothing. They supply shop tools and Lexus special tools only. So when a tech gives you a labor price, it’s because he probably spent close to 100k on tools.

It’s been quite the week.

Won the biggest account in my 13 year professional career late last Friday. Completed all the courses and earned a professional designation in my industry I have been working towards. Had a quick marketing trip to Dallas for work, leaving 2 am Tuesday and getting back at midnight last night.

Got pink eye from my wife.

I guess I was a little too eager to get home. I took my wifes outback to/from the airport and apparently drive it like the WRX I had back in the day. Pulled over on the way home from the airport, doing 48 in a 30, and was lucky enough to get off with a verbal warning.

And my grandma passed away. It wasnt unexpected but it doesnt make it any easier. She was at the point where she wasn’t remembering me, or my wife or kids. Extremely tough to see her like that and think shes in a better place now.

A lot of ups and downs. Happy tomorrow is Friday.

Got 90% of the parts for my frontend work.

I have 4 seals in my parts bin. Two are for the back of the knuckle (90316-A0001, axle dust shield), the other two, I'm not sure. The part number is 90304-A0001.

90304-A0001 is the dust seal on the end of the CV axle. I don't need it because I have new axles.

Wait till you see my existing seals! Surely allowing crap in the hubs.
My 555 inner and outer TREs came in. Killed another 2 hours messing with a broken snap ring. Can’t get enough heat on it to soften the dam thing and not big enough to weld onto.
Got a ghetto idea involving some 9v battery’s.
