I have a 2016 with 67k miles. Carfax shows that all recalls were taken care of by dealer back in 2016 and no other problems. Just wondering if there’s anything else with 2016 specifically (growing pains) that I should watch out for as I am planning on keeping the truck for a while. I’ve seen many people well into the 100ks with 2016s but now that it’s 2025 I’m wondering people’s thoughts.

I have 95k on my 2016, I sprayed the undercarriage with CRS change fluids. Wash wax and keep her clean. Only mod was pop n lock and bed lighting.

There is the crossover coolant pipe leaking behind the engine, issue with all years. My 16 had it and i had to get it fixed.
To check crawl under behind the passenger front wheel and shine a light on the back of the block. if you see pink corrosion it is leaking. Then there is the famous timing cover oil leak, again effects all years.
these are the two somewhat common biggies.

Follow the maintenance map in the stickies, and fix whatever else breaks sooner than later, outside of that, it's out of your control.
    enjoy

You're going to want to check the bushings and Boots from time to time as they have the tendency to crack. Maybe pick up some take off shocks from a member here they have no miles on them. Other than that, keep it in good shape inside and out and you should be fine. If you go to the sticky section in this forum there's a post with the Maintenance Maps

    And the envelope says.......,

Proper PM and fix what breaks = years and thousands of miles

T boned tomorrow or DUI = 24 hours.

Translation, longevity can be great with reasonable care and a little luck.

My 2016 has 192,500 miles and it’s been 100% problem free. I’ve done all my basic maintenance at 3-5,000 mile intervals and other maintenance as required. Most reliable truck I’ve owned.

@kahanabob is right about the timing cover oil leak and crossover coolant pipe.
I have a 2016 with 75k. No coolant leak for me, timing cover was leaking at around 40k. How'd I find out? I went to do an oil change and there was no oil...
Don't know how long I was driving it for that way but suffice to say it was addressed and repaired by dealership at no cost.
Also last year my dumbass was doing an oil change when I realized I had emptied the transmission and filled 6qts of oil into the 6qts of oil already still in the engine, while I was short 2.5 it's of transmission fluid. It drove funny for some miles before I realized my mistake, and that's how I accidentally did a transmission drain and fill... Go on, roast me, I was not of sound mind at the time :crapstorm:
Despite these mishaps, the truck drives great. I feel like I've really broken it in(hopefully nothing broken. Lol) just got spark plugs and power steering fluid replaced. She runs like a dream.
Also had my HVAC blower motor replaced as it had crapped out and was making ridiculous rattle whenever the fans were HI. I think that was the same year as the timing cover leak.

At 67k I believe the drivetrain is well broken in and as long as regular maintenance is kept up she'll keep chugging along.

2016 bought new and not driven hard. 113k right now.

    • 70k AC evaporator started leaking.
    • 80k rear coolant pipe began leaking.
    • 90k ac compressor and condenser were replaced
