yeah it’s a remote oil filter housing, with hookups for the oil cooler and a thermostat built in.

I think they are passenger and driver side specific. I seem to remember dealing with this just a couple months back when replacing my lock cylinders

Already tried swapping them left to right. Didn’t make a difference.

Let this thing idle for about 2 hours while I was working on it today. Temps were perfect and truck was very happy: IMG_3836.jpg

got the roof moldings trimmed and glued in:IMG_3837.jpg

got a rear view mirror installed again:

    IMG_3838.jpg

    Hood scoop installed:IMG_3840.jpg

    lights are still bright:

    IMG_3841.jpg

and lastly, I don’t have pics, but I finally figured out the door locks, and I rebuilt the oil filter block, so that no longer leaks:IMG_3842.jpg

Tomorrow, I need to epoxy the headlight trims to the headlights, re zip tie my grille since it’s broken in a few spots, and maybe if I’m feeling ambitious, give the truck a good wash. So much oil and dirt on the bottom of this thing from that filter block leaking and trans dumping. But this thing is ready for a real trip soon.

Ordered a mechman 170amp alt. Charging voltage is only 13.5v while the truck is idling. Would be happier if that was closer to 15v. And it looks cool

I do, but when I was dealing with this issue last time, I just had the exciter set to be on when the ignition is on, bypassing the tacoma charging circuit, and it still only gave me about 13.5v.

Got a big boy mechman billet alternator installed. Charging voltage is around 14.7 compared to 13.5. Wayyyyyyyy better.

also zip tied the ever living hell out of the front grille. All the tabs and mounts were snapped off, and I’m done replacing grilles lol.

this thing goes to storage for about a month, and then off to the cage guy!

Highly suggest hiding two AirTags in the truck and a third in a magnet hide-a-key box hidden in the end of an open trailer frame box tube before you pull down the storage door.

I’ve got air tags on all the keys for everything. But that’s not a bad idea. The trailer has a locking box in it too.

I’m up in a nicer area, and funny enough but also frustrating, I just went there to drop it off and I couldn’t even get in. Place closed access at 10PM. So no one is able to get in or out at night.

the truck and trailer aren’t even in a unit, it’s in a reserved parking spot.

there are plenty of nice boats and campers and stuff, none of which have locks on them like my truck does. I don’t think mine will be the first target. Plus I have a cover going over the whole thing.

Nice. My buddy dropped his truck off 2 weeks ago. Had a bunch of stuff pre planned since then but got the interior stripped and first tube in this week haha.

    97433CE3-DDE3-4F0F-8862-9FB68639B19E.jpg

He has an aftermarket sunroof and wants it to remain functional so I’ll need to make new roof tubes after the main structure is in place

Aftermarket sunroof???????? Never heard of that. Sounds leaky

But looks good! I’m gonna strip my interior down minus the center console for the guy doing mine. Hopefully I can get my dash out without having to pull the console, but I’ll probably have to pull the console. Only problem is it’s completely custom built into the truck with the dash installed, so I’m not sure how it was assembled or how to remove it :anonymous:

How do you get the pillar and ceiling interior panels back in place with the cage installed?
