I've heard the horror stories of beds breaking over time and sure enough! ...I have a crack at each side of the bed by the tailgate hinge. I've been running a snugtop for a little less than a year. never thought I'd have this problem...

OH WELL. in the past I was going to do bed stiffeners but decided not to, instead going with a bed extender foldy cage hinged thing. looks like my hand is forced now for a set of stiffeners. anyone out there with broken plastic bed experience? preventative measures? best stiffeners? favorite color? I'd like to keep the bed together for years to come.

Well, the piece you have circled is made of steel, not plastic. But yes, bed stiffeners were made to help prevent that from happening

I’m usually called a “dick” but yeah, bed stiffeners would help

As long as we are talking bed stiffeners which brand works best with the OEM bed mat?
