The Few Major Tacoma Issues Needing Addressed

I ran across a new article on MSN.com regarding Microsoft's Zune player and how Microsfot is taking action based upon a large number of complaints on a message board.

That got me thinking that if we could put together a list of the few major issues that plague the Tacoma, e-mail a link to a few news companies, then they might write a brief article and help us get a response or action from Toyota.

I am mostly speaking of the common vibration felt between 30-20 mph as well as the vibration felt by some around 50-60 that I don't have but many others do.

Let me know if anyone else feels this is a good idea and lets start a thread with a poll on 2 or 3 different issues and generate a large number of posts.

Are there any 'major issues that plague the Tacoma' that aren't being addressed by Toyota?

On the basis that the failing tires that killed a number of people on Ford SUVs only got a limitted amount of press, I don't think you're going to get any news companies interested in reporting about a bit of vibration at a certain speed.

The reason that we own Tacomas is they're pretty reliable and largely without major faults. You think that all the other trucks out there don't have minor issues that some might think need to be addressed?

 

Motor Mounts/Frame Failures

 

This thread is a dead horse. This stuff has been beaten to death. There's a multi page thread around here somewhere that did the very thing you're attempting to do here.

That's questionable. I'm not going to rehash it but most of those folks simply didn't bother to take care of their vehicle properly and I personally don't blame Ford for Firestone's failures. And yes, I do know what I'm talking about: I owned a 99 Explorer with the affected tires. The rest of your comments, I wholeheartedly agree.

 

Toyota will access the motor mount concerns and handle it the same way they have every issue in the past. They are probably in the fact gathering stage right now waiting to hear from dealers on numbers of vehicles involved for my dealership here out west we have had none so far we see on average of over a 100 vehicles a day seven days a week.

Rust problems and weld problems are not new to Toyota
they have had them in the past they had rear lower control arm rust issues on the early 80’s starlet models and front upper control arm mount weld problems on mid to late eighties 2 wheel drive pickups and Toyota stepped up for repairs for both concerns. Let’s wait see if the motor mount problem is really a Toyota problem first.

Well the motor mount/frame problem is Toyotas and Dana Corp's. Toyota endorses Dana Corp to make the frames so it should be there problem. Did Toyota make the frame? No. Will they address the problem? Im sure they will in time but we'll have to see. Obviously its not going to be immediate and some places are more prone to having issues with it. Places that maybe use salt, de-icers, have harsher winters might be a reason some are failing. Mine has some rust around where the welds are so who knows. You live in Santa Cruz so its hard to say how harsh your winters are or if they use salt or what not. I think a couple people from California have had the problem, i think Tacogrande on TN did and Cell4Soul, Marnes. I think they were all from California or at least down south, not sure though

Ok, I don't know all the facts and I was just using this case as an example.
