Man, there's just something about that fat rear tire that makes them look like super fun casual trail bikes.

If you are thinking of going that route I would check out the tracer 9 / fj-09 and fjr1300. I was looking at the fj-09 as an upgrade from my fz6r but went super tenere as I wanted more off road focus.

might also be worth looking at the bmw k1600 and r1250. I know a guy that had the k1600 and loved it.

K1600/R1250 are bucket list bikes for me right now.

Vstrom 1000 is my next logical choice, but other things keep getting in my way.

HOLY CRAP we were busy here in the last 24 hrs!

I would 1000000% End up in jail if I had access to such a machine. Good lord that thing looks fast standing still.... the 20yr old hoon in me wouldnt be able to be contained with that in the garage....

HECK YEAH!!!! What a great lil bike that will never let you down, and while it wont win any races it will always leave you with a smile on your face and zero stress of leaving you stranded, a bulletproof exploration machine. I love my xt225 which is a VERY similar platform. Keep fresh oil in her and she will go forever. About the ONLY thing on that motor that has a fault is the main aluminum cam bushing that is in it stock. Again keep fresh oil in it and make sure to orient the oil filter the right direction ... (change your break in oil sooner rather than later) and you wont have an issue, but down the road you might consider swapping that out to a bearing (do it at a valve check interval as you have to back off cam rockers to pull the cam out). I did it on my XT225 for peace of mind around 11k miles on the clock (bought it with 10k miles of unknown maintenance) and the bushing showed signs of wear and some definite radial slop. The whole "mod" took maybe 30 min of methodic cruising wrenching.

I have a BRAND NEW Timken bearing (bought a 2 pack) for this purpose if you ever want it, its yours!

(See this post for the mod - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/motorcycles-bs-thread-2-0.420753/page-2476#post-29569667)

Where is this?!?!?! What a beautiful pic.

Are those Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires? That's what I'm thinking I'll upgrade to at some point.

Thank you for all of this advice. Yeah I'd be interested in that bearing.

just a couple of things tbh
Oh great more things to look at haha. I have been looking at the tracer. The fjr I have looked at I just don't like the look of them so it wouldn't be something I'd want personally.

Bmws are cool I just don't know if I wanna deal with the price of maintenance and the purchase price haha.

I don’t think maintenance is that bad unless you goto a dealer but that’s the case with any bike.

That's a big bike lol. I'll have to do more reading on it and check one out eventually.

I'm also looking at the triumph tiger sport I love the 3 cylinder sound of them. But not sure if any are local to me or reliability either.

How did he like it? Did he ever have a passenger on it? When we tried the Suzuki v Strom 800 it had the hard boxes and my gf couldn't fit comfortable with the way the boxes were setup.
