Here are a few pictures from my 2nd Gen B-8PT install. Similar steps would be followed for any other powered sub.

I've installed a sub in almost every one of my cars and sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesnt. The type of wires you use seem to affect whether you get interference or not. YMMV.

I ran my power wire and RCAs on different sides of the cab, and when my stereo is at 0 volume, it sounds like I have a turbo. Faint, but you can hear it... and it increases with the RPM's.. exactly.. like a turbo. I hate it. No clue what it could be, but obviously it's something to do with my stereo... Only thing I can think of would be my grounds..?

Yeah, maybe try a different ground source or even scratching the surface a little to get good contact on clean metal.

It's probably my grounds. My RCA's were like $60 for two sets.

I'll try to figure it out.

ok not that it will mater but could some one post up a video of the sub in action? I know that most video camera's mics will just distort but just was wondering what kind of throw the sub has and what kind of shake it creates on the mirrors/panels. Thats what I would like to see: sound vs vibration.

I've gotta break mine in first so not gona be me right now.
BUT! I can say you will be very impressed if you're looking to fill the lows in the cab.

I went from a 12'' square kicker L5 with a 1000W rockford fosgate amp, to this little gem, and I'm stoked on it! and i haven't even tuned it yet.

rcbs204, the OP, I notice you put your remote dial into one of your blanks. did the housing for the remote dial just pop open? I installed mine yesterday and noticed the remote was too big to fit as is. I ran out of time to mess around with it. Thanks in advance.

Yeah i just popped the remote apart, and swiped the pot out of the housing. You do have to modify the switch cover quite a bit, but thanks to the dremel, it turned out really well.

Had the B-8pt, but returned as I wasn't satisfied with the sound output. I went with a 300W setup instead for ~$150 more:

    SuperCrewSound DC enclosure
Rockford Fosgate P2D2-10 Woofer (10" Woofer)
Rockford Fosgate PBR300x1 mini amp (300W Amp)
Packed in ~12oz of poly fill.

    IMG_3918_540c05a811a19a6eb9c9253ba4f6d30d7a61e575.jpg

I agree the B-8pt is pretty good for the price and size. The above setup still won't wake the neighbors but does sound better at higher volume levels and seems to fill a wider range of the bass spectrum clearer at higher volume levels. The difference is noticeable particularly when driving freeway speeds. It is ~$150 more and if you don't mind sacrificing a little more space and got some free time building your own subwoofer.

Update: Several weeks later after reading about what Polyfill can do- I went ahead and added in about 12oz. (Polyfill is sold at Walmart for < $5 per 16oz at the crafts section). Polyfill is supposed to make small sealed enclosures think they are 20-30% bigger. The result after I added the polyfill: The very low end of the spectrum sounded much, much, much more defined, tighter, cleaner and louder. The system now has bass that you can really feel and will definitely shake your mirrors if you keep the gain and volume up too high.

Thanks for documenting your install. I was wondering what you thought about having he B-8PT behind the passenger seat. Can you hear a difference if the seat is folded up or down?

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
How is the quality of the box? I like the one you have, I also like the dual 10" sub box with amp rack. Assuming they are a quality box.

    Thanks!

Hoping for some decent lows. I have one on order from Crutchfield. I am keeping the stock head unit since I want the stock look and am completely satisfied with the iPod controls, bluetooth, Sat radio and steering wheel controls.
I am adding a line converter with EQ, 75w x 4 RMS amp to power Infinity components up front and Polk 2 ways in the rear doors. Everything will be sound deadened too. I am thinking this will be very nice sound with a little bump and all for around $1000... I like the idea of a sub volume knob without having to get into the radio setup.

    Hopefully pics to come.

Has anyone come up with a good mounting procedure? I will be putting mine behind the rear seat, driver's side.

How does the B-8PT compare to the factory JBL 8" subwoofer, sound wise?

I have a small textiles plant where we make poly batting for upholstery. I have always used it in all my speaker boxes... If anyone wants some, $5 from WallyWorld is pretty steep. For $3 / lb plus UPS, I'll send you some. 2 lbs should be more than sufficient for a 10" single box. PM me
