I remember a thread about a line input passive amplifier inline between your ipod and aux input. I dont understand why the volume level is so different than the radio/cd/sat and the aux imput. And yes, the volume on my ipod is maxed out and sound check is off. Thanks if anyone can recall that original post lemme know

The output level that Apple uses in the iPod is lower than the minimum the AUX input needs to get full sound. Many mp3 players work just fine, its just the Apple products that have problems.

Sort of like the iPhone 4's horrible performance as a cell based telephone. I have trained my #1 son to call us from his home phone instead of his iPhone 4 so we can understand him.

Advertising does a wonderful job at covering up reality.

Thats odd, I've never had a volume problem with the AUX and my iPod. I usually only use the iPod on long trips and I can get my ears hurting pretty easily with the volume past about 45. I'd say my iPod is as loud if not louder than FM radio, and much louder than my Sat radio.

LOL damn straight. Apple is such a fad right now, but they are far from perfect. As they approach "king of the hill" status, witness the first virus specific to Macs launched just last week, and as they are now a large target of notoriety, there will be many more. Failure rates have been ticking up as well, and they make Toyota's customer service look good.

As for sound, I find my iPod nano to be louder than many other MP3 players I've used .. though since Apple refuses to supply a fully customizable EQ (as opposed to all the lame presets) it's certainly not the best sound.

It's not an Apple only problem, I have a Sony mp3 player & it's got low volume too.

Crappiest stock radio I have ever had in any car, overall output is too low, horrible FM reception, & intermittently turns itself off by itself or when pushing a pre-set button. Eventually I will replace the HU. with aftermarket.

You can get that warrantied. I've never had mine turn off by itself.

I called the dealer & told him it's intermittent, & asked if when he looks at it if it doesn't have a problem would they do anything, & he said no. So it sounds like a waste of time trying to get it warrantied, especially when you consider the poor performance when it actually is working properly.

    To revive an old post...

I've an 07 Tundra (I know this is for Tacomas) with weak audio when plugged into my aux input.
I took the aux input out just now to find a PCB with 2 resistors... I am consulting an electrical engineer regarding this...image.jpg image.jpg

Just jumped the resistors... It only took away the function that caused the radio to switch to fm if aux unplugged.
