blown diff-re gear...

So as u can see I'm gonna be basically regearing my rear diff......so might as well regear front and step up right...

Main question is are 4.56 gonna be too much for a 03 dbl cab 4x4 auto 3.4l with 285s? It is a daily driver, but offroaded frequently. And in a year or so paid off and a toy/part time street driving. Any thoughts or links would be helpful. Searched a bit figure 4.56 will prlly be best. Also any gear company better than another, and why? Been recommended east coast gear supply. 4.30 would be ideal for 285's but 4.56 is the closest you can get.

 

Well there is 4.29 too right, but I think 4.56 might b a lil better.

Wanna try a keep it under 2k we shall see.....

 

If you pull the diffs yourself, purchase the parts yourself, and just pay a shop labor to set up the diffs, you might be able to sneak in under 2k.

Wow. What a horrible noise.

FWIW: My buddy went with 4.88s. On 33s that gear ratio seems a bit too much. 4.56s would definitely be better 285/75s.

 

I was deciding between 4.56 and 4.88. In the end I went with 4.88. I'm running 33s if you are in orange county anytime I'll take you for a drive or let you test drive it and see if you like 4.88

Right now I'm getting 16-17 mpg average with the 4.88

Also another reason I chose ecgs rather than a local shop was ecgs has a 5 year warranty. And they were 200 bucks cheaper than what I got quoted for set up minus install.

 

That noise! Looked like a good time up to that!

 

If it was me I would decide on a gear ratio. Then ship (or take) the 3rd member reliable shop (maybe ECGS). I would definetely take this opportunity to add a front locker if you do regear the front diff.

Once they ship them back to you I'll help you install them. Its pretty easy to remove/install but its much more difficult to rebuild the 3rd member.
