I have an '11 SB OR AT 4wd. I have been reading the posts concerning the spring pack TSB. I held off on going to the dealer until I actually tried to load the bed with something heavy.

Today I put a yard of compost (approx 1500 lb) in the bed. I drove it back home about 7 miles from the garden center. The bed did go lower (with 1,500 lbs you would expect that) but the truck handled the load fine. The springs were not at the stops and the truck handled fine. It did take a little longer to brake and accelerate but nothing beyone what is expected for a heavy load. My house is on a hill and in addition, my drive is steep, but there were no problems going up the hill and drive due to rear end sag.

So, my question is: what would be gained by asking for the TSB spring pack?

    1) I'd be willing to bet 1500 LBS is over the max cargo limit for your truck.
    2) Nothing will be gained- If you are happy with how it drives and you don't feel it was harsh or unsafe- Then you have no real claim for the Harsh Ride TSB (cause that's what it's called...Not the SPRING TSB.

I didn't get mine done because mine is made in Baja and it doesn't bottom out with a load.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I did it mostly to improve handling while towing - but the truck now handles better in all conditions (much more stable...). After I had mine done, I put my truck side by side with my friends 07 Access cab (same as mine), and stood on the bumpers one after another - his bed dipped significantly, while mine barely moved at all. The "free lift" was a nice bonus!

1500lbs shoulda left you sitting hard on the bump stops... are you absolutely positive it wasn't? Mine was almost on the bumps with 700 and hitting at every bump; 120 more and it was resting on them.

But I am curious: why would rear-end sag affect ability to go uphill?

OP, you're looking at this all wrong. If you have no issues with how your truck handles a load in the bed, then why are you even contemplating the rear leaf TSB? If you're happy with how your truck performed, leave it be. You have a 2011, maybe you lucked out and got a good set of stock leafs?

1500 pound in your bed? I'm doubting it was that much. Probably more around 1K. I had 16 bags of mulch in the back of my truck and it still sagged a little and I have the rear leaf TSB.

I am not trying to hijack this thread but I just have a question about the leafs since were on this topic. I have a 4 cyclinder 4x4 with a cover on the back. Truck just hit 10,000 miles and now every week I have shoot wd40 in them to keep them from squeaking. I have not had to carry anything heavy in the back yet. Is this a sign I should get new leafs?

Part of your problem is using WD40. That stuff attracts and traps dirt which is what makes the noise. There are some DIY leaf squeak stop techniques on here. Jack the truck up and pressure wash the hell outta the leafs....Use a teflon type grease and/or bicycle tube spacers
So...No...It's not a sign you need new leafs...Cause you can get new ones and then they'll squeak like these ones in a few months.

I think the grease that gets laid in between the leafs traps dirt just as bad. The more likely explanation to me is WD40 is getting washed out in puddles and what-not. Still, same diff: it's not the correct product for this application.

Well...someone was lying thru their teeth to you...I'm usually cranky.

True...Altho depending on when you got the springs and if you've had the Squeaky Leaf TSB done...They should be using the same type of teflon grease that doesn't trap dirt like petroleum lubes do.

My 2011 TRD Sport DC that was made in Mexico. Funny because I thought they where all made in Baja.
But I recently read that the ones manufactured in Mexico came with the updated springs. Can anybody confirm this? My build date is 03/10/11

The only person I've heard that from is DavidK , but not 4 springs like the TSB or Canadian packs , but he claims an improved 3 leaf pack .
