You couldn't be closer to the truth... :D

I lead a flight operations team, we fly airplanes with no pilots in them (UAV)... :D

I get to travel to a lot of cool places (El Centro was NOT one of them... haha)

What do you mean El Centro was not cool, the only place cooler is Imperial! Wife's family is from there, some still there. ;)

I got lucky -- when I got out of the Army (I was an Air Traffic Controller), there was a company hiring anybody with Army Aviation experience to learn how to fly these things. The FAA had frozen hiring, so I went on board with that company.

I eventually quit and went to a better position... then I quit that position to move to the east coast...

What kind of skills do you have? My company is always hiring, but flight crew personnel are typically a 'select breed.' Corporate HQ is in Northern Baltimore...

I was a tech on an F14 Flight simulator when I was in the Navy. It was pretty cool. Full motion base, weather simulation (which would shake the crap out out of the simulator when it was on full rough air). There were digitized airstrips where you could practice taking off and landing and there was a scenario where you could do aircraft carrier landings and take-offs (I could trap but it wasn't pretty). They even had a g-suit plug-in which would fill with air as you pulled g's. Some of the contractors digitized an obstacle course that you could fly through. Great fun. If they didn't get rid of the rating, I probably would have done a full 20 years.
