But didn't find anything re: Fox 2.5s only the 2.0s.

2011 Double Cab short bed 4x4. Planning on 275/70R17 or 265/65R17 I think. 9" wide rim. I will only offroad maybe 1-2/yr and that will be mild, no desert racing or rock crawling.

Thinking of Fox Ext travel COs with RR or the Kings. UCAs will be either Camburg, TC, or Down South's UCAs. I'd like to get 2.5-3" of level lift, 3" preferred. I understand both are meant to be a better ride at 2.5 since at 3 the spring is under more preload.

Can anyone has had either set up enlighten me? Thanks.

I would go with kings. I had OE replacement foxes 2.5 and they didnt like preload and wouldnt keep lift, now i have 2.5x8 kings with a bunch of preload and they ride much better.

If your only going to wheel a couple times a year get some 5100s and eibach/ome, aal in the rear and your good. If u keep it at 2.5" alignment should be good w/o uca's but depends on your budget! Just my .02!

I have no idea if the King OE replacements are the same way, but in my experience the foxes didnt do well with the preload, IDK why. Im running the long travel coilovers on a TC long travel kit so high speed desert stuff.

Yeah, the Bilstein CO's are not out of the question. Definitely a better price point. But I do want a very plush road ride with the lift. Aren't the Bs a bit harsh on road?

If you don't preload the billies you'll be good. That's why the longer springs are better. Mine are firm/more stable but smooth and I like em. Any quality coilover at 2-2.5" will be nice! I've heard kings tend to be softer for street driving. Icon's are tuned for our trucks specifically and if not preloaded (more than what they are set at) are a perfect fit!

Hmm, now you've got me thinking again. I think the Fox,Icons,Kings are overkill for my use. So with Bs, I can get an adjustable collar and have a very smooth street ride with a 2.5" lift? Is 3" too high? Will the Bs at least give me a ride comparable to stock? I've heard that for even those high-performance OE COs, 3" is too high also. Too much preload.

If you get the billies and eibachs, I think you would set the shocks at .85 setting and your looking at 2.5-3", they are not height adjustable though. If you want that look at toytec's website. They have all the above options.

I know the Bilsteins are only adjustable as to where you place the collar/plate on before the spring is installed, yes? But dont they have an adjustable collar for preload which also adjusts the height?

If I put in a longer spring, then can I get the 3" I'm after or is there enough thread on the shock body to allow that?

King 10" coilovers w/ resi. 3.5" over long travel kit. Factory spindles w/ ALLPRO gussets. Total Chaos tower gussets. Energy Poly cab mounts and steering rack mounts. Glassworks fenders and bedsides. Home fabbed bed cage. King 2.5x16 bypass shocks in the rear. DMZ long travel rear end. Race radio (2meter). Removed secondary carbon air filter. Exhaust dumped before the axle / no muffler. Phram fresh air cabin filter. K&N replacement filter, After market stereo, Grillcraft grill, custom fabled roof rack with 7" HID's, PRP race seats.
Here is the only thread adjustable 5100 I know of. It's just a Billy with an adjustable adapter on it.
Don't go 3" man. It's pretty rough if you don't have some gooshy tires. I mean it's doable but your going to have zero down travel and then you'll be wondering why you hear the shocks smacking when you go over speed bumps.

Agreed.....less downtravel will not make a comfortable ride. If you are running 265/275 2-2.5" lift should be enough to clear them.

These are ready to go but at 3"
This is what I'm running. Can be adjusted down to 2.5" and be pretty smooth.
If you are looking for 2.5" call Toytec and they'll hook you up with the eibach springs, shocks and 1/4" lean spacer for drivers side. That should be all you need for around $375? They will need to be assembled with a spring compressor but I would take them to a shop and not even mess with it.

They are a vendor here and can give you a discount as well.
