    Greetings,

I am in the process of selecting a Toyota Tacoma TRD Double Cab. Tomorrow I will look at a 2007 TRD Sport with 40,000 miles. Everything I've been able to find out, indicates this may be a great buy. If this doesn't work out, then i will buy a new one. I've already located a couple that i like.

We pull a CASITA Fiberglass RV Trailer all over the country and when fully loaded, it weighs around 3500 lb. I know some folks that use the Tacoma and are very happy with it. I've been using a 99 Chevy Tahoe, but it's bleeding me dry with repairs.

    Any comments for me??

As soon as I get a vehicle, I'll update my profile.

    Regards,

    EKW

Thanks, Whippersnapper, I should have mentioned that the ones I'm looking at all have that tow package. In fact, they have pretty much all the goodies that come stock with the Double Door Tacoma TRD.

    I appreciate your comments, though.

Now, you scared me. Is that a good thing or bad thing?

    Thanks,

OKAY!.....I'm a pretty mechanical guy, but there's a butt-load of new stuff to learn with a TRD. I'm obviously really excited about it. I'll try to contain my "newbiness" and do research before asking.

G'night...I gotta get my beauty sleep.

    thanks,

    EKW

In Country Lane Addition, across from Rangeview High School. East of Iliff & Buckley. Once I get whatever I'm getting, maybe we can have a "cuppa".

    Thanks for the note.

We looked at the TRD Sport today and drove it a short distance. Beautiful truck, but a bit noisy with that performance exhaust he put on it. I'm trying to figure out what that really entails. He claims it adds 3-5 mpg and if it does, the noise would be liveable.

    Thanks,

    EKW

    Good morning everyone,

Well, drove the Taco again yesterday and I've decided I kinda like that throaty growl. I just let my teenager out again and it feels good. Anyway, I did some searching on this forum and think I understand what's on the truck and I'm sure it's the full cat-back system because he ordered the truck from the factory with it factory installed and it showed a bit over $500 in the original sticker (which we'll get).

We struck a deal and will get the truck in a couple of days. I'll post a couple pictures when we get it. I think it's a hell of a deal, and sure a chunk less $$$ than a new one.

    Regards,

    Keith

Nice congrats on the new ride.

Did you hear/see all the fireworks last night? I like the signs that are up on Smokey Hill "All fireworks are illegal in Aurora" yet everywhere was blowing up haha

I have a 2007 dbcb 4x4 sport, one thing I would check is the leaf springs and, look at the main springs, if you see two main springs and a shorter overload spring, then the leaf spring TSD was not done, at this point the truck is too old to get it done. BUT, since you intend to tow with it, I would strongly recommend either changing out the stock leafs for a three or four pack from Wheeler's or some of the other vendors on this site, OR invest in a add-a-leaf, they are not too hard too install if you have the tools and useful friends. I would also upgrade the rear shocks to Bilstien 5100's, also if you can afford it, some air-bags would be a great idea to help with the towing. I put a Rack-it lumber rack and a shell on mine and usually carried tools and/or landscape materials in my truck. There is always a constant load on the rear suspension similar to towing and after two years the leafs were sagging and the shocks were shot. I put in Billie 5100's and a two-inch add-a-leaf from Wheeler's and am thrilled with the results. I wish I had done it sooner. Sounds like a good truck to me, good luck!

Thanks, I said to "she who must be obeyed", "sounds like a war zone out there". Tonight should be something else. I love live fireworks, but hate crowds, so I'll just stay home again. And, wathcing Fireworks on TV is like kissing your sister. It just ain't the same.

Can't wait to get my new to me TRD in a couple days.

    Later,

    EKW

Thanks Racerboy. I didn't know AMS was still around. I'll have to look into this again. I keep vehicles a long time and I do know Oil / "Awwwl" is critical. Is AMS still a multi-level marketed product?

Looks nice! Time for some air bags! I just bought some and I will be putting them on weekend after next, they look to be pretty easy to do.
