Your engine would probably be cooler without a hood all together.
    THUS,
If you have a silver sport hood you can ship it to me.

I have used hood vents to cool an engine on trail rigs before with TONS of success. Why would it not help let heat out of the engine compartment? It is at one of the highest points of the hood and heat goes up. now I do understand that is you do not have a cooling issue to begin with you may be spinning your wheels, but if you live in a hot area it may help let some of the heat out, and any heat out is better than no heat out. That being said I am sure the engineers allowed enough room for proper cooling to take place, I still do not see how anyone can think that hot air would not get out of the engine bay if the scoop was open.... I would worry more about the chance of water and shit getting into the engine area than anything, but a nice tray can be fabbed up if you are commited to doing this, and you can leave the plastic screen there and place something like screen door mesh behind that to keep out the larger crap. As I mentioned I really only think it will help if you are sitting still, more than it will moving, but I may be wrong on that too, it may could cause some cooling whilst moving. I am not saying because I want this done nor do I think anyone should just do it to do it, I also do not like the fact that it is not functional, but it is on the turbo diesel models because the intercooler in mounted on top. FWIW.

before you get all worked up on this remember the thermostat will make sure your engine runs at the proper temp regardless of whether you have a hood scoop or hood for that matter. Only thing you might try is a cold air intake to the air box. Even then I am not sure it will accomplish much.
