    Hey all,
If you are not familar from my previous thread ( http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-cab-auto-v6-speedway-blue-trd-sport-4x4.html ), I was on some crazy search for a Toyota Tacoma, a very special Taco. Well, sure enough, a dealership like twelve miles from my house had one up on those stands and it's Speedway Blue was blinding me on my drive home. I quickly turned around and said, "Shoot, it's a sport too!" Heck yeah it was. It's a 2008 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab Speedway Blue V6 Auto TRD Sport (but no 4x4). I can manage without the 4x4. It has approximately 8,000 miles on it. Sticker price was $21,900, but hey, I wanted it for less. I've got a 2004 Nissan Frontier to trade in. I wanted 8,500 for my trade-in, give or take. They gave me $7,500 but didn't really budge on the truck. I offered like $11k OTD with trade in  Yeah, that was a negative. They aren't really budging on the price of the truck though, I mean, at ALL. They want to sell it with my trade in for like $15k plus tax, tag, title. What is fair? I can't imagine giving them the sticker price on their truck fair, because they jack it up and whatnot... But this is MY truck. I test drove it so it is offical. Lol. Let me know! I've got some business stuff to do in the morning and I may stop by after and work with the numbers again. I guess financing $11k is out of the question, but how much in addition to my trade-in OTD is fair?

Well the $7500 isn't bad for my truck. But let's face it, no one is buying in this economy so is it really worth it to wait?? And believe me, I have expanded my search area... lol

Keep trying to get them to move on the price... if they don't and you don't want to pay... ya gotta walk away and find a different truck.

Well heck when he came back and said negative on the 11k I was like, "Well, oh well I guess." and got up to the door. He insinuated to sit back down and said, "I'll be right back."

My errand tomorrow involves me wearing a nice skirt and top so maybe I'll have a better impression than my jeans and t shirt today?? WTH.

Is this the only 08 they have?

Sell your truck to another dealer, or preferably sell it yourself, and then go negotiate the price.

Most dealers are stubborn when it comes to negotiating with a trade-in.

There's your answer right there..... sorry but being a girl isn't helping you,

Most car salesmen "see you coming from a mile away" and think you don't know what you're talking about.

    Don't prove them right.

Try the online route and see if they'll dicker that way. Get a friends email address if you've already given them yours. Alot of the online salesman will work with you and give you the deal you're looking for.

To you smart guys/gals out there... would another dealer be able to trade used vehicles like they do new?? If so, then try a different dealer... say I really want to buy from you and I saw the truck I want over there....

If not, then do as 09TacoLI said and wait a month or so and go back.

Well it's a Mitsubishi (sp whatever) and Ford dealership. I think it's the only Toyota on the lot, let alone Taco!

    Just finance it :pccoffee:
I financed mine in Oct 07, a year later its worth more than I owe...they hold their value.

Or wait but plan on it being gone when you are ready..it is a Tacoma.

And it being on a mitsubishi/ford lot, they aren't going to come down on the price much at all, they know that truck is going to go for every cent they ask for it. When I was looking for mine I stopped going to non-toyota dealers cause they were asking more and wouldn't negotiate at all.

Could be much different now with the state of the economy.

Does the dealership have an internet sales department?

have you tried looking out of state? if that's a feasible option, you could save a ton of cash. being from NC with inlaws in FL, i've seen the difference in prices between the two. the internet is also a great way to get the dealers fighting over your money. do to them what they try to do to us..."well i've got another guy/girl/couple down here looking at the vehicle now and they seem REAL interested...but i want YOU to have the car..." turn about is fair play, after all (LOL)!! anyway, good luck on buying your truck.

Did you write 8,000 miles? Thats brand new. 21 isn't bad. I understand why they won't come off the price but I'd wait. Find the 4x4 you want. Never settle for something less because it will just lead to dissapointment. Nothing against the 2 wheel drive but it sounds like you want a 4.

Someone said look out of state....I live in Florida and found my perfect truck for the perfect price in Phillidelphia. Got a one way ticket and made it happen. Till this day I never regreted my decision of waiting. GL

I walked out on the dealer I bought mine from twice. What helped me is that I was apparently the only one who could get financed (out of the other two people looking at it). Also I found an identical one at another dealer with twice the miles but 3K less. I told them I was going to buy from another dealer and THEN they started talking.
