So you despise atheist people just because you don't stand our logic? I can't understand religious logic or even agree with any of it. But I don't despise people for having a belief. I think our purpose is the same as any other creature, to survive.
I'm atheist and I don't think I'm a bad person at all. I never been in trouble with the law, never cheated before in my life, and still have great morals. I live my life as a happy person and appreciate everyday I'm alive.
No I don't believe in Heaven or Hell at all, not even alittle Slodgetto. I think people are afraid of death and this is usually a way for people to cope. They hope for a better life after death and want to see love ones that have passed away.

Seems hypocritical to me- you 'believe' in Jesus so that if he exists, you're covered? Sorry, but in my humble opinion, the christians who believe 'just in case' are wasting their time.

    Where's your faith? Your conviction?

This kind of thing reminds me of all the assholes I knew from church who would sit front and center on sundays then be a piece of shit monday-saturday. Sorry fellas, but I don't think it works that way...

If your god is all-knowing, don't think for a second he isn't gunna see through your bullshit...

Sure. I'm curious. Whenever you have time. :D

That part sorta makes sense.... until you realize life expectancy has been increasing since they start tracking it. We still live longer, on average, than our ancestors so how is that explained? Life expectancy around the 1800's was under 40. Now we have people living well past 80, several passed 100. We have a lot more healthcare and better sanitation. Yet before all that food alone let people live 300 yrs? How?

lol They also didn't have cold medicine, indoor plumbing, sewage treatment, etc.

Is TW a recognized religion yet?.....or has this been covered? Sorry, not reading 65 pages to find out. IMO, TW needs to be in the poll list.

Maybe that was a strong word to use there and I don't want to pick a fight but to me the logic of an atheist is redundant and well illogical. At the same time I don't get the logic of modern religion as it is but I do believe there is something bigger than us, be it science, a god, many gods, or spirits. I don't doubt that you or any other given atheist has no or bad morals, I'm just perplexed with their way of thinking. I do have quite a few atheist friends and we go back and forth over all this but in the end we leave it at this...

    Religion is like a penis...
You can be proud of it, but don't shove it down someone's throat

For our purposes it should be more like "religion and atheism is like a penis"....

It's Bob.... What do you expect? The guy loves to stir shit up. :D I mean, he starts this thread then *poof* disappears to watch the ensuing chaos with a cold beer.

Hey man, been a while hasn't it! Things have been changing for me I think since we last spoke. lol

As for my stance, I'm always about learning. Hell, I run a team of 5 techs supporting 2800 devices at a hospital! If I'm not learning, I can't do my job. So I'm always interested in things on either side of the fence that can be explained in a reasonable fashion. It's the irrational, illogical things that irritate me. And that's not just for religion. Same goes for the damn PCs i work on when the same procedure on identical devices produce completely different results. I like things that make sense, and unfortunately most of what I hear about religion doesn't. Or raises more questions than it answers. (yes, more than one person has told me I think too much)

Like those people that sold their houses and all their possessions to put up rapture billboards. Regardless of why or what convinced them to do it me first thought would have been "wtf do I do the day AFTER if I'm still here and my shit's gone? Where do I work? Where do my kids sleep? What do we eat?" Those questions alone would make it impossible for me to do what they did. It baffles my mind that they actually did it! WTF do they do now? Part of me feels bad they are broke, homeless, no clothes, no job, etc. Part of me wants to laugh for being so dumb to believe that. Guess I'm going to hell.

didn't really hear about that, but anyone who thinks they know when the rapture is, hasn't read their Bible. They just want attention or fame and probably use religion as a smoke screen for something else. I don't really feel bad for them. You can't argue with stupid.

Anyway, I agree with you on the thinking too much, I do the same......you believe in hell now?....wait, I think we've covered this before:laugh:

Good to hear from ya pal, keep those pc's a rollin'!! Sounds like you've been real busy. I know the feeling, hot weather keeps us hopping.:D

I was raised in a by Catholic parents, however the only times we really went to Church where Religious Holidays. The area I grew up in was heaviliy Southern Baptist, and extremely judgemental and forceful about their beliefs. Almost to the point where I'd consider it a cult. Of course I don't see all Christianity that way, just this particular sect of individuals.

I believe people should be free to practice whatever Religion they like and worship whatever Deity they choose. I'm happy as long as someone isn't attempting to force their own beliefs on me.

I always find it interesting to listen to others beliefs though. I know some very devout Christians who have extremely interesting reasons as to why they believe what they believe.

I would rather live my life believing in god only to die and find out he didn't exist... then to live my life not believing and finding that he did exist and end up suffering in hell.

I've prayed to god... put before me what you wish me to follow, and I will trust in you... with that said... I take the bible as gods written word...

Please don't take offense to this, it's meant more as a general observation than a reply to any particular post in this thread.

I've never understood why people believe that only a Christian can go to Heaven. It doesn't make sense to me that God would damn someone to hell for eternity for not being a believer, or for being a believer of a different Religion. Shouldn't the only thing that matters be moral fiber and character?

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
No offense taken and for more discussion.

You are grouping all Christians into maybe one branch of Christianity. I don't believe that you have to believe in my faith or god to go to heaven or whatever. Likewise, I am not going to try and impress my beliefs on you. Not an attack at you, but that is my biggest problem with "most" atheists I have come across, the onle thing I absolutely hate about some religions is when they try to make me believe what they believe, and sadly that is the same with atheists. What I choose to believe and what you choose to believe is to each their own. Nothing is more annoying when someone goes out of there way to believe what they believe, no matter which way it is. I do believe in God, I do believe in dinosaurs and evolution and that some way they inter-twine, I do believe that most of the stories in the bible are true (or based on truth of people's perception, much like stories of ghosts and ufo's). I don't know what is right, this is what I choose to believe and live by, I can care less what you choose, so why do you care what I choose? Atheists, Muslims, Catholics, Mormons, Hare Krishnas; doesn't matter, I will talk to you if I want to explore your beliefs.
