Wondering if anyone had any issues running 275/65 r18 size duratracs. Can't decide on size. Either that size or 285/70 r17. Gonna have 4.5 bs on rims, just worried about rubbing and milage. Also have 3 inch lift

I had an OME lift and D rated Duratrac 285/70/17 tires put on last week. Compared to stock it rides horrible. Every person that has been in my truck has commented on how rough the ride is and how loud the tires are. That being said they have also mentioned how good the tires and lift look. I have no experience offroad but these grip the pavement so well (you can feel it in turns) I be they are a great offroad tire.

I do 95% highway driving so these tires just don't cut it for me. They are way to loud and rough on pavement IMHO. They look great but I'm taking them off and getting a less aggressive tire - the brand new BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain (replacement for rugged trail). They are P rated and are supposed to give a nice highway ride with light offroad capability -sounds like the perfect set up for me.

My mileage went from 19.5 to 16.8 mpg (stock 17's to 285/70/17's and moto metal wheels) not sure how much of that is due to odometer being off from larger tires though?

Installer had to trim and it still rubs a little - will get them trimmed more after I change tires out if needed.

I really like the idea of getting DT's and I will towards the end of the year when the snow starts to fly. I'd like to get another set of tires and wheels. What tires are you guys using for the summer months of driving? I dont do any off roading so me that is not an issue.

    Thanks

ill say the latter of the two. My DT's only produce a slight hum about 45 mph and i dont see how they are a danger on the highway

lol is this guy serious? size actually the duratracs grip like mad on any surface i have used them on very deep snow slush ice sleet rain mud can't speak for rocks or lose shale, but i don't see them all of a sudden falling on their face there either.

not to mention size dependent the load ranges of the duratracs i have c load, but if you go to 285's their are e load range and they are very stiff, but very durable tires. one of the safest tires on the road for light trucks period.

    lol i hope your joking...

Actually the GoodYear Wrangler Duratracs are considered a Commercial All Terrain. Developed for service vehicles that see extreme conditions and are rated for severe snow traction. They are extremely safe on the road and extremely! good at shedding water and resist hydroplaning better than most "road tires"

I posted this elsewhere, but I thought I would put it on this thread to see if someone could chime in...

Procomp 7089 in size 16x8 with 4.5 inch backspacing and 265/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. Anyone running this wheel/tire combo on stock suspension without any issues?

When I search, I have seen a couple different threads about not only trouble balancing due to not much space to place wheel weights in the 16 inch Procomp rim, but also tires rubbing due to the duratracs being a slightly bigger tire than most 265's. I am hoping to hear a few success stories about people not having issues with this setup before I pull the trigger.

i have the same setup but with 287/75/r16, only with a 2 inch spacer lift front and tsp leafs. leveled out and the only rub is on the mudflaps when turning (i will remove front mudflaps) but it is quiet, barely hear it only when music is off. the balance was pretty difficult, had to take it to get balanced twice but when it was all on spot, its just nice and smooth

i just purchased a set of 265/75-16 duratracs and i absolutely positive love them! they handle better then the stock POS dunlops, ride better and have tremendously more grip wet and dry.

they do have a slight hum, but i only hear it windows up and radio off. in fact, the intake makes more noise then the tires, and i have a stock intake.

if i do have to complain, they were tough to balance, taking at least ~8oz per wheel. no shimmies at all, and i took her up to 90... :)

Then why the hell post in this thread? To see who responds so you know not everyone has put you on their ignore list?

Anyway... I think this was the thread I posted in. I now have 40K on my Duratracs. They are just barely above the wear bars. I will post pics when I get some time.

Just over 40,000 miles on my Duratrac. Rotated every 6000 (maximum). Usually run between 36-40 psi in them.

I would say about 90% on road driving. Lotta road trips back and forth to Wyoming. Not nearly enough off road use.
I should also say I am very tough on tires it seems. I have never had a set last me longer than 40K I don't think.
Overall I am very happy with them. Probably the best all around tire I have ever had. Excellent traction in snow, ice, off road, rain, you name it. If I can find a better deal on them then what I got the first time I would definatly not hesitate to get them again.
Right now I am probably going to keep driving on them till winter and then we'll see how they look.

Could someone take a look at what I've posted in this thread and tell me if it sounds more like a Tire Balance problem of an Alignment thread? I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks.

Side note: here's a quick pic of my new setup. VERY happy with the looks so far, just need to work out the ride.

That actually looks really good with the white letters out. What size tires and how much lift?

3inch Lift with 285/75/16 tires. I've always been partial to whitewalls, especially with a white truck. But really, in general, I believe it makes the tires POP. Also, I find the bright white to make your truck look extra clean. Blackwalls tend to look dusty to me; like they should be white, but not cleaned in a LONG time.

    I know, I'm weird.
