I've searched a bunch but can't locate the thread re re-installing OEM roof racks.

I'm re-installing mine on my '08 upgrade and have found that the little yellow plastic piece that connects the rack rail and the interior bracket that attaches to the roof is all mangled and not re-usable.

The local dealership doesn't even have a part number for it and says I have to buy a whole new rail. Does anyone know how I can get a replacement??

I read a thread awhile ago where someone said they found the exact same plug at an auto parts store, but I have tried all in the area and no luck.

Surely people re-install these things and have to replace this part?!? Any help is appreciated!

Ya know, I'm not sure what the name of the part is. Its not the bolt or nut that screws the rack rail down onto the roof, but the small, separate yellow plastic piece that has a notched top that slides into the rail, and then the bottom has sort of serrated plastic 'wings' that are pushed into the bracket that is bolted onto the roof. This yellow piece makes the connection between the rail and the bracket...does that make sense? maybe I should post a photo...the plastic yellow piece gets deformed when removed and can't be re-used. Kinda crappy design really.

Thanks you guys, but if you look on the install thread, I'm the last poster with the same question! And the install instructions are great, but don't have part # for that clip. The thread I was looking for has info from someone who found a replacement part at an auto shop, but I haven't found it yet...thanks for the help tho guys

Thanks for your help! Here is a shot of the part; it is the small yellow clip at the lower left hand side of the photo. It sticks through a hole in the bracket, and is held there by plastic fins....

No way, that would be too easy! I'm not sure if they are the same ones or not, I haven't taken apart my door panels yet... any chance you could take a couple of photos with something to compare for size for me? If they are the right ones, I'll pay you handsomely for a couple of them!

Man, those look close but I'm just not sure they are exactly the same...I'll take some photos of mine and upload to compare. I won't be able to do it until next week. Thanks a TON for your help!
