    :canada:

Just dropped in to say hello to my Canadian neighbors...seem to have found plenty of distractions to keep me away from the computer since we returned from vacation in Lower 48...but the freezer is filling up with Salmon, Halibut, and now some Caribou after we get done processing this afternoon. Now for some berries and hopefully a Moose in September .... there just isn't enough days in a Summer here. I've felt behind the power curve since we spent almost three weeks outside (Lower 48) ... of course I never fit in more than a third of the Summer activities I want to ... even when we don't go south for vacation.

Hope all are well! Rob :oldglory:

The fish myself, with friends. I was supposed to go on the Caribou hunt, but work required me to go to another darn training class for yet another computer system...and I couldn't do the training on another week; so I sent my son to fill my tag. He went along with several other of my friends...took them a while to find the herd ... a buddy said it felt like they must have covered 140 square miles ... but in the end, all 7 tags got filled. Pretty proud of my son, he shot ours, and then another friend who had to attend the same training, went up Friday morning, and my son guided him in on Saturday, and my friend got his Caribou too! They wouldn't let us both be absent from work for the weekend, so I stayed behind to cover work. Hopefully I'll manage to make the Moose hunt next month. This work thing can sure be an inconvenience at times.

    Thanks!

You should try it sometime. I grew up hunting and fishing in Virginia, then about 1994 I kind of drifted away from the hunting part; took an assignment to UK and ended up staying for 7 years. Their gun laws had me selling all of mine before we left the states. Then it was about 6 years up here (moved here in 2001) before I started back up...buying a house when we got here kinds of limited my "toy" money for a while....yeah, that's it, we'll blame on the house (not my wife...;)). Since I've retired from Active Duty, I've really gotten back into hunting. It's another good reason to be outdoors...and I think once you learn recipes for cooking the meat, it tastes better than store bought beef, etc....probably because it's not pumped up on crap (steroids/drugs/whatever) ...but probably more so it's just like food cooked outside over an open fire always tastes better...certain satisfaction in the end result of the process.

Glad your trip went well!... are there any pics?

... or should I go browse back through the many pages this thread has grown by during my hiatus from it?

 Awesome pictures! ...and an entertaining thread as well. :D

Your right about Scotland being where it's at! Some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen...and that coming from a guy living in Alaska! ... And the people there are fantastic.

Scotland and Ireland are on my list of places I want to see again before I die.
...and I don't need any assistance from your "Bond alter ego" speeding that one along! ;):p

    Thanks for passing the link!

You're (got it right that time);) welcome.

... London over Ireland  ...There's a WTF was I thinking moment!

Don't get me wrong, London is a neat city...but it's like any other big city IMHO...once you've seen it ... it's another big city ... nice place to visit/experience, but I wouldn't want to live there.

On the other hand, Ireland (and/or Scotland) I could never get tired of and would actually consider living there.

On the Amy Winehouse affair, just keep :anonymous: ... and if the coppers get close, point them at the "seven" ... coppers are already onto them and will be easily diverted while you calmly walk away and disappear like the highly trained "00" we all suspect you of being. :D;):p

Thanks for sharing...I'll be around. :)
