That's the site I help run. And we have a spam detector as well as staff that run a check on every new member. So spam accounts are immediately deleted before they make a first post or even before email verification. :)

But look at the amount of "active members" you have. Inactive members here are culled on a frequent basis. That's the cause of the difference in member # and the total number of members we currently have.

We did a purge not too long ago. We do need to do another one, though.

It's funny you mention that because we had noticed lately that a few have been coming on after not being on for some time. Methinks it's because of the season.

Yes, it's a good site for photographic how-to steps (allowing for some sloppy technique) but I second your opinion about the attitudes.

Don't ever try to make a post in defense of nature vs. the right-wing "tread heavily" mentality. This site seems to be full of people who think any regulation of OHV use is "socialism." They don't understand that some of us use 4WD to reach (long established) remote areas for the sake of being there, not conquering the landscape. There is a distinct difference between that and the tear-it-up, truck-hunting crowd who treat nature like a back alley whore.

I detect a large white-trash presence. I'm white, but without the trash (nature) attitude that so many off-roaders have. There are probably "Blue Ribbon Coalition" fans here; a group that wouldn't mind if all wilderness was full of roads, noise, fumes and beer cans. They're the types who think it's funny to litter and crap on the Rubicon Trail, and will vote for Rick Perry in 2012. Anything to keep "Obongo" from preserving what's left of roadless wilderness. Nature loses ground to human overpopulation every day, but these greedy children of God want to accelerate the process.

Get rid of those general attitudes and this would indeed be a great resource. People who claim they're "just joking" often aren't.

#1 Political talk isn't allowed on TW if I remember correctly
#2 You are generalizing many good people
#3 I won't speak of the many left-wing people I know who are trashy and hate anything and everything outdoors.
    #4 I sense some attitude

I have never seen this attitude. If anything, I've only seen the exact opposite from members here.

BTW. Congratulations on trolling hard enough to include insults and political view into what had turned into a light-hearted thread. Your rant (IMO) has put you as low as those you're trying to insult, generalizing literally 45,000 people into an extreme view.
