I just watched the above video, and had forgotten how GA had the VERY best announcer in college football in Larry Munson. I'm a Auburn fan, but always loved to listen to him call games, simply the best, most passionate voice on the radio.

These are two of my favorite Munson calls...

"So we'll try to kick one a hundred thousand miles. We're holding it on our own 49-and-a-half ... gonna try to kick it sixty yards plus a foot-and-a-half ... and Butler kicked a long one ... a long one ... Oh my God! Oh my God! ... The stadium is worse than bonkers!" - calling Kevin Butler's field goal in the final seconds to win over Clemson in 1984

"We just stepped on their face with a hob-nailed boot and broke their nose! We just crushed their face!" - calling Georgia's last-second win over Tennessee in 2001

That's what I'm talking about, just passion. I did edit my post, as you brought light to my bad memory, was thinking Muncey, not Munson.

This is one of my favorite time of the NCAA football season. It is one of my favorite times for two reasons.

First, the nostalgic one. For about a week now, every fan-base in the country KNOWS this year, this year, they have a chance. For the next week that fantasy remains intact. Most major programs (BCS conference schools) can entertain that hope for a few weeks further, that is until ranked teams start playing. For the first month or so of ball, everyone loves the season. And I kinda enjoy it when everyone in football is excited and there are no grudges yet.

Second, and this is more cynical. This is the only time of the year when football "analysts" and commentators are only wrong about their predictions, not their observations about the game that they clearly just failed to watch.

So for a week more or so, my Longhorns are destined for greatness, and Brent Musberger hasn't invented a new name for one of our DBs who was not actually in on the play he just broke down for "you folks at home".

Best of season to you everyone. May your season remain fun for months to come :)

You know I do think that in that game there was some complacency in that they were wearing the black jerseys and didn't focus on the game so much. Not saying they would have won otherwise, just think they let the black jerseys, home crowd and prime time game all get in their heads and didn't focus as they should have.

I miss Larry's play calling but his last couple years just weren't the same as they used to be anyway. But he's a legend and some of those calls still give me chills.

With Jones (one fo the best PF in the nation) and with Lamb and Miller coming back, adding in the best recruitng class in years with Gilchrist, Teague, Anthony Davis and Wiltjer - UK should comete for a nother Final Four.

Football just fills our time until the real sport begins.

I will say, UK is in the top 25 in attendances each year and has just put in the 15th largest video boards...........as UK is looking at a new 500-600 million dollar new Rupp Arena and is currently building this monster dorm for the the players to live in - after building a $38 milllion dollar pracitce facility with underwater tread-mills (like thouroghbreds use) and every thing you can imagine............but...........our football stadium is getting new paint in the rest rooms and better concessions.

I'll be there too, sir! The Dome is gonna be nuts!

And the 2 times before that they blew teams out with em on.

I'm biased, but I think Munson was the best announcer in college football. I get chills when I hear some of those calls, because I remember hearing them. A lot of Saturdays I was in the woods hunting with my dad and we'd come out for lunch and listen to the game on the radio and hear Munson calling the game. He honestly made it feel like you were watching the game.

One of my favorites is when he broke his chair.

"92 yards and Lindsay really got in a footrace, I broke my chair, I came right through a chair, a metal STEEL chair with about a five inch cushion ... Do you know what is gonna happen here tonight? And up at St. Simons and Jekyll Island and all those places where all those Dawg people have got those condominiums for four days? MAN, is there gonna be some property destroyed tonight! 26 to 21, Dawgs on top! We were gone. I gave up, you did too. We were out of it and gone. Miracle!"

And of course his call when Herschel ran over the whole Tennessee defense - "My God, a Freshman!"

I bought the book he wrote "From Herschel to a Hobnail boot" and it came with a CD of his greatest calls. It's amazing.

Days until Alabama Football: Tyrone Prothro

Despite the initial confusion on the field, eventually ruled a catch at the 1 yard line. The replay (starting at 0:40) is the best view of it.

    neglect, mostly.
ESPN reports this morning that A&G sent the letter to officially ditch big 12. . . . 2 hrs later 11:00 EST, they just said A&G is completely denying it all to the questioning new york times. . . . sometimes i wish they just would just inform the final decision, instead of every stepping stone on the way to it.
