    stock and awesome!!
I hate I wait in my truck and motor is off but radio on... I lock my doors to be safe but then it sets the alarm so I am stuck in my truck and like a dumb ass I open my door or hit unlock on the door and it sets off the alarm so my truck is honking non stop until I fumble for my keys and disarm the alarm. So I hate the alarm system ... I also don't like that the alarm does not go off when it should. I also don't like that it doesn't have a sun roof! The new tundra's have a sun roof but not tacoma.:( That's all besides that I love my truck!

I really don't miss my taco now that I sold it. There were many issues with the truck (2009 extended cab 6 spd manual 4wd) that cost quite a bit to fix it. From the radio all screwed up to the weak tailgate to the horrible gas mileage I am very happy it is gone.

In it's place is a 2006 dodge ram 2500 4wd with a cummins 5.9 litre turbodiesel. It has a solid front axle and is everything the taco will never be. If Toyota would build the Tacoma the way they used to make them (first gen) they would sell a lot more trucks. I will never buy another one.

I hate the location of the rear view mirror. I'm 6'2" and the mirror is right in my field of view, I hate it. If I could move it up a few inches it might be better.

I've had my 2003 for about a month now and these are the things I've noticed as areas where it is somewhat lacking (nothing serious mind you):

    • Cupholders are pretty crappy (both in function and in number)
    • Plastic bedliner (factory) is pretty cheap (but all plastic bedliners are)
    • Paint is kind of thin... bedliner has worn paint right off the bed rails and tailgate... no biggie... will probably end up getting a spray-in bedliner eventually anyway which will solve that problem
    • The 2.7L I4's mpg is definitely sensitive to how you drive it... with my old Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.9L V8 (which admittedly got considerably worse mileage) it returned the same mileage whether I babied it or flogged it... the 2.7L is much more picky about how it's driven... it can do very good mpg-wise if you are willing to drive like an old lady... but in the Phoenix freeway driving that is pretty hard to do
    • Factory stereo is/was so so... recently replaced it with an Alpine head unit and 4 Boston Acoustic 5x7s in factory locations... much, much better
    • The previous owner put on a cat-back system (which I suppose gives it a bit more power... maybe... who knows?)... but the muffler has an annoying drone to it at cruising speed... this is obviously not Toyota's fault and I am thinking of taking it to a muffler shop and having them cut out the aftermarket muffler and put in a quieter one (or now that I have the aftermarket stereo I can just turn up the radio... seems to work too!!!!!!!:D)
I know that sounds like a lot of griping... but in reality all of these things combined measure about a 0.6 on a scale from 1-10. I frakkin' love my Taco!! :headbang:

No leather seats, the crappy orange gauge lights, and the steering wheel (should be different from camry and sienna). I can live/change out almost everything else.

Clock placement and not being able to have the 5 spd in a double cab are the only things I dislike. If I find a good deal on a 5spd tranny I plan on buying it and swapping it in!
Either way I love my tacoma
