    :eek: Well today I got up bright and early to put the URD fuel pump upgrade in the truck. I had everything prepared, tank below 1/4, instructions pretty much memorized.
    Everything goes smooth as hell takin my time and dropped the tank completely. Followed the URD instructions (which are very clear and picture detailed). Got everything back in and tank bolted up.
    I stand back up to put the negative battery cable on so i could start her up and that's when I see it - "A small rubber grommet that i was supposed to install on the new pump that goes over the base of the sock filter !!" AAAHHH!!!
    I was frickin speechless and managed to put a big frickin grinn on my face. So now I had to redrop the tank and pull new pump out. I had to cut the stainless steel zip tie that you install on the new pump, and to find another stainless zip tie led me on another journey. None of the local stores around me had stainless so i ran to town to a marine store and they didn't have stainless, finally another NAPA had them.
    So all in all, what would have been a successfull 3.5 hour install turned to a long but yet successfull day.

    stablizes fuel pressure. You don't want to go into boost with low fuel pressure.

    The charger seems to jump quikcly from idle now, it used to lag a little and i asume it was due to the stock pump. It seems to start quick everytime now, where as before sometimes it would take an extra second to start.
    Gotta say though, i've got about 29,000 miles and the fuel in my tank looked pretty dam murky when i opened it up. Glad that i have an external fuel filter now. I will be changing this more often. I've put about 30 miles since the new fuel pump and the supercharger throttle response is much improved.

    Interesting. When I did my URD pump upgrade they both looked the same and might flow the same as well, not sure though. But I'm glad I'm able to change my filter out, I'm still N/A but at least I have good foundations for boost.

    Yet another example of what can go wrong, will ... despite your best intentions. At least it's finished, I'm still working on fixing my last mistake. I had to spend all day driving to pick up a new engine, I'd be tickled pink if it was just a zip tie.

    I got the 6 speed out and onto the garage floor tonight, I may pull the engine this weekend (looks like rain) and start moving stuff over. Most of it went pretty smoothly but I can't describe how much I hate that damn wiring harness. From inside the firewall to every corner of the engine and engine bay, then back over the top of the tranny with connectors and hard to reach clips everywhere. I think 50% of the disassembly time was on that thing.

    It started as an oil change ... :D

    BTW, I've been to your island about 20 times for windsurfing/surfing trips and got married on the north shore near Baby Beach (Baldwin). Nice place to call home.

    I do remember reading about your oil change gone wrong, you probably have the ultimate "murphy's law" reference right there. I see your doing it yourself and hope it goes as smooth as possible. Many bloody handed wrenching nights for you my friend.
    I just finished reading the end of the thread and were you able to tear the old engine down yet?

    Tearing it down will be a winter project when it's cold out. Summer doesn't last all year around here so I have things to do right now that are a lot more fun. And that is why I'm just getting around to pulling the engine now.

    The good thing is I only have 2 pieces in the "where the heck does that go" pile right now. Hopefully zero when I'm done ;)
