Front left wheel bearing help

05 Tacoma 4wd. 112,000 miles
Front left wheel bearing shot. Have heard new bearing assembly bolts right on. No pressing needed. Is this true? Mechanic wants $400.00. Seems pretty unreasonable to me. Searched and searched the forums. If anyone could point me to the thread if this has already been covered it would be greatly appreciated. Am pretty good DIY guy w/proper guideance.
Any step by step help out there?

I think the bearings are pressed in/out of the spindle assy. Not bolt on. Check out this video, I didn't watch it, but the comments on the page say nice vid, so I assume it's good.

I just typed in wheel bearings and this was on the first page......

 

I just did this. Got the bearing hub assembley off ebay for 40. Did the work myself except pressing out the old hub from bearing hub assembly, shop did for 35 it took like 15 minutes. U need inner and outer seals and o ring. Pretty easy

 

I understand now. Bearing is not pressed into spindle but hub & bearing are
pressed together as one unit. Nice video. Should spindle be removed & inner seal be replaced while I am in there. Seems a broken inner seal could let debris into bearing & cause same trouble again. Could be the cause of the current bearing malfunction, although 112,000 is alot of miles on a bearing.

 

If you have it apart you might as well replace all the seals. I'm sure the seals only cost a few bucks and since the bearing is rather expensive you definitely want to make last as long as possible.

I did watch the video after posting it here just to see, and it seems very easy, especially if you have access to air tools.

I think I'll give it a try. I have access to all of the required tools.
I'll change the inner seal while I am in there too.
I'll let everyone know how it went. Don't know why my search under wheel bearings came up "no info available." I must be an idiot, I guess.

Im at the point where i have the stearing joint apart to get at the inner seal and the outer seal(attached to the drive shaft). How hard is it to replace and... What do I do????
