Why??? Why not just drag it form the hitch if you're going to drag it behind the pickup

If the headache rack is only attached to the bedsides or bedrails , which is the most common way to mount it , you will winch the rack off the truck before you get a 1000lb elk in the bed .

Do you not have friends? That's usually who I use to help me put an elk in my truck... Chances are you will need people to help you drag, so they're gonna be there anyway. I honestly feel like you are putting a lot of time, thought, and possibly money into a project that even if it works, you can only use once maybe twice a year (unless you are a poacher of course).

I believe you can, you have to attach rings to the bed bolts, there are a few people on here who have done it, here is one

i think (depending on the weight), that you would have to put a line between the 2 and split up the weight, then ratchet it from the center

a boat winch (like off a trailer) may work better though

PS: if someone knows if this will bee too much weight, etc... please let us know

Well, I mean it's ultimately your truck. Do with it what you will. I personally suggest that you get some nice long ramps and a couple big buddies to help you out.

Just a thought but with a winch by your window if the cable comes loose guess what youll be replacing. Are our composite beds even strong enough to take that much weight being distributed by the headache racks mounting points

Get a mounting bar made up that bolts across the bed into the bed bolts .

Have a winch plate made up that can be attached to this mounting bar for your winch
