Adding new tie downs? (D-rings)

Got the Toyota D-rings when i first purchased the truck. Those D-rings come with instructions to mount them on the front side of the bed. There's a pretty specific location - something like 70mm up and 63 back. They come with backing plates. I don't know - seems like you could install any of these brands of D-rings in a LOT of different places but I went with where the instructions specified and it's proven to be pretty handy.

Thanks for the info! I stole some d-rings from the back of my wife's 4runner and tried to put them on my Taco. Got the Torx bit but then hit a wall. Those suckers are in tight!! Still haven't been able to get them out. Impact gun. Gotta get one of those.

I bought the factory D-rings and threw out the backer plates. You want to go into the frame, no way would I take the chance tying down to plastic. I removed the two front bed bolts, like many said before you have to grind a little to get the washer off. They have blue loctite on them so I needed a 18" breaker bar to get them out but no problem.
On another note, I can't imagine any reason to have d-rings in any place but the corners unless adding additional ones - but to all his own...
