    stock, or even minimal lift yes you will be rubbing. but anything is possible.

    i fit 35s with a 2.5" lift and fiberglass fenders with a cab mount chop and aftermarket front bumper and bearly rubbed while backing up on full lock. but ive also read about 1st gens fitting bigger tires is a much bigger PITA than 2nd gens..

    Of couse anything is possible.
    I'm saying that you're not going to get 305's to fit with any off the shelf lift kit without rubbing and/or serious tubbing (unless this is just for mall crawling, in which case who cares). Hell I rubbed with my 285's on frame and fenders full lock/compression with 3" of lift.

    I've seen a lot of first gen Tacoma's with 305/70/16's, I almost purchased that size on mine. Height wise, they really aren't that much taller than 285's, they are a little wider. Just be prepared to do more trimming/cutting with them than if you were going to run 285's.

    I find it mildly amusing all those pictures are of parked trucks.
    Goes back to my statement about mall crawling. If you are not wheeling you can run pretty much any size you want.

    Guys the only difference between the 305/70 and a 285/75 is the width. 305/70=32.8" tall and 12" width, 285/75=32.8"tall and 11.2" width. Is the 1" difference why there would be rubbing? I have the bushwacker cutout fender flares which I had to cut 1" out of the rear of the front wheel well and 1" on both the front and rear of the rear wells.

    Thank you, but I learned how to do math as a child. It IS the width. In case you missed it before, I rubbed with 285's. Pre LT, when I was wheeling I rubbed frame and sometimes fender (and I have fiberglass fenders) in precarious positions. I have litterally cut off every last mm of spare metal I could and beat the fuck out of my fenderswells with a 4 lb sledge, and it still rubbed.

    The rear is easy it's the front you'll have to deal with. 305's is completely doable with the right backspacing, just be prepared to live with the rubbing (if you wheel) and have a BFH and a grinder handy. If you're a mall crawler, then this whole conversation is pointless...just buy what you want.

    i want to buy to wheels so i can fit 285/75 16s but what backspacing do i need so they wont hit the UCAs and will stick the tires out a lil? sorry im new to buying wheels so i dont really know

    i would go 4.5, thats the most popular size of backspacing for our trucks, so i just followed the crowd i guess :D i dont know much about it either to be honest haha
    popular specs for our trucks with aftermarket rims:
    6 on 5.5 lug pattern
    4.5 backspacing
    0 offset
