New Guy/Also a question

Hello to all I am new to the forum and to the Toyota Tacoma world, Tomorrow I trade my 2010 Shelby GT500 in on a 2011 double Cab TRD Sport, believe it or not I'm really looking forward to it. I love my Shelby but I have to sell a few vehicles and down size for the house I am buying next year (big purchase), I will get another shelb down the road. Anyways I look forward to learning a lot on this forum and meeting some new people. Now I know I'm new and I have a question , don't worry it's not what is the biggest size tire can I put on my truck (did some research) ... My question is my sport is going to be black and I was wondering what finish I should go with for my nerf bars, I'm leaning towards black just cause the polished and chrome ones don't match anything on the truck, so please give me your opinions on finish and best brand for 5 inch ones ? Tx ...... Eric

 

Skip the nerf bars and get a set of sliders... you'll thank yourself down the road. If you don't want to get that radical I recommend some black powder-coated N fab steps

This is a pic of my sliders. Sliders can be bolt on (mine) or welded on. To name a few manufactures; Demello Offroad, Relentless, AllPro and a few others. They are made to protect the rocker panels from damage.

No problem, and welcome. Sorry you had to get rid of the car for now but you made a good choice for your family, and got a good truck!

Edit.. I'd check into the N Fabs for the little ones to be able to step on to get in. Eric at Relentless can also make some custom for you that have steps on them. You have some options, now find what will work for you.

 

Those N fab things may work though, but I don't know cause I was so sold on the oval nerf bars

 

Thanks, I like to think I made the right choice . I know one thing Love tacoma s , always have ...muscle cars and trucks are my secondary love after my family...

1st do you plan on off roading? if so N Fab step bars are a waste of money . They hang downand will get caught on stuff and bend. Sliders are the way to go. Get a folding step stool for the kids. Relentless Fab sliders

 

Tears were not far off but thoughts of my one to come in the near future, helped me to be real excited about the TRD, that and it's an awesome truck..tx for the welcome..Eric

 

Not planning on any dedicated off roading besides the occasional trail here and there or else I would of got the off road package instead. This is more of a daily driver that I wana make look sweet on the road . First thing I'm doing is taken off those god for saken dunLup crap and more then likely replacing them with Firestone destination AT (the review on these tires is near flawless ).....next I will be doing some kinda of steps or bars (undecided still, answers please ) .... Next is the TRD intake or airaid, and some more cosmetics, rain guards, hood protector, window tint , tri fold cover...that will hold me off till I learn more reading this forum

Hey man welcome. If you have any questions about your truck before you ask there is a search function up top, but don't be afraid to ask. If you plan to off road real sliders are the way to go the first time some nerf bars hit a decent rock, or in my case a ledge on a hill, they will bend and just look bad. My dad has a Porsche Boxster S that will keep up with those Shelby's on the top end, but I love my Tacoma just as much as I love it. I don't think you'll miss the Shelby very long. lol Welcome from SC.

 

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I decide to go with black 5 in. Rhino oval nerf bars, just like the look and function of them. Like I said earlier no hard core off roading for me, just the occasional trail or so. Well really excited , less then ten hours till I go pick her up. I was suppose to get it yesterday but didn't work out that way. So funny , picking her up then driving literally 5 miles down the road and getting my firestone destination AT 's put on 265/70/17....get rid of that dunlup crap. Well wish me luck and I'll post pictures soon...tx again all. Eric

 

So Tuesday I go pick up the truck cause the day I was suppose to pick it up (Monday),something went wrong and I couldn't get it that day.. Don't You know they put a 500 dollar rebate on the 11's that morning, So sweet....if I would of picked it up the day before I would of never gotten it ....and the best part is that tacoma s haven't had a rebate on them in over 3 years (things truly happen for a reason)...man I'm running good, right after that went and got my new tires put on, way better looking..put the tri fold on and now waiting for my K&N cold air intake, rain guards, rhino nerfs,and my custom floor mats to all come in,,really pumped, this truck is awesome....I'll post some pictures after everythig is on (end of next week)...... Tire Rack stacks their reviews. I think many would agree with me when I say that you would be happier with BF Goodrich A/T T/A KOs or a set of Bridgestone Revo2s

 

kinda of a blunt statement, do you have any evidence to back that up or are you just a supporter to the tires that you mentioned above? Or lets ask another question here, Why would Tire rack stack reviews in favor of a tire that is less expensive ? Hmm, just doesn't make sense......... I realize it's your opinion but to say they stack reviews, just cause you think they do and because your partial to a band wagon tire is just plain silly. I have had BF goodrich tires on previous vehicles and although the looks are top notch, they just couldn't perform up to par (mainly in the snow)..Not to mention the firestone s are everything they said they were so far.....500miles later, snow traction review coming soon........
