I actually think it's been proven to seriously de-value the truck

OK, hand tools, or the use of air tools?

Im staring at the ToyTec page right now. I'm looking at this kit:

It'll probably look a little weird with the 245 stock tires for now

Hmm..you should get this King Coilevers(It's rebuildable) with these rear shocks from wheelers and these AAL from wheelers(Either single 2" aal or the 3 pack..i'd go with 3 pack) And just get new U-Bolts and you're done.

THe price should be able the same..if not maybe a little bit more expensive but not passing the $900 mark :)

    ...Just a suggestion..

Not really... I ran my stock tires with my lift for over a year. I didn't mind it. I used hand tools and air tools. You only need a decent 3/8inch drive set to be honest. It was my first time putting the lift on when I did it so it took me a lot longer then it would now. You can probably do each side with just hand tools in under a hour.

    It'll go like this.

    1) loosen lug nuts
    2) jack vehicle and install jack stands
    3) take tire off
    4) remove sway bar
    5) disconnect UCA from spindle
    6) remove strut
    7) install new strut and reconnect everything.

You will need a breaker bar but a two foot pipe will work also!

Awesome. I've got a buddy who can help with air tools and anything else I need. I would probably do it at his garage instead of mine

Damn I've been a working fool. This is the first night I got home before 8.

    Negative

It looks weird but many of us weren't able to do it in one go, either. All in good time.

I'm not a fan of the bilstein unless it's an on-road vehicle. Research on TW shows an OME setup to be superior and generally save a few bucks.
Joe has the right idea of trying to find used, even if his link was for a 1st gen.

I was getting a popping noise from the rear end today when coming up to a stop. Wondering if it's something in the driveline or maybe I'm a nub and it was the dangly thing from the spare tire holder (I took out the 265). I'll adjust that tomorrow, but got an appointment on Wednesday.

Hoping all goes well - I threw down for offroad training with Bill Burke this weekend at TSF (had a special discount!).

My tacoma will 90% see pavement, 5% snow, 5% trails. I think on road performance is best for me.

You are most likely fine then. Just as long as you aren't trying to do it for leveling, cuz I'll kick you in the jimmy. ;)
