Where did you install your iPod interface?

hey all,
I'm a newbie here. Got a question. Where did you install your ipod interface? The glove box seems hella inconvenient. I was thinking the center console and adding a notch for the cable to hang out with the lid closed (had a maxima and it had a notch made into it). Don't really want to make a mod that permanent though. Any ideas?

Ive seen people run there cable into there cubby above your right knee, Center console is pretty popular. If you dont want to do anything permanent then the glovebox sounds like your best bet, No drilling needed.

 

i jam mine in the cubby under the 4x4 switch

I used this Sony radio. The ipod goes INSIDE the radio, Unfortunately you cant control the radio by hand. Just through the radio. But i like it!

The center console is almost a definite; the notch for the cable to hang out is not.

I found a pic of someone with a dock in the slot in front of the single cup holder. I'm not sure were the cutout goes on that on though.

 

This is what I did ... although I had a difficult time deciding that I wanted to drill a hole ... although as I sit you can not tell the cable is coming out of the AUX plug. I ran a 5' male-to-male cable along the center shifter console .... tie wrapping it in order not to interfere with the shifter and then drilling a hole in the console box.


I have not seen any reason to "notch" the center console or its cover ... there is enough "give".

 

Mine's in the center console removed the console removed the blank switch plug brought the wire to the jack and while I was at it did the same for the gps wire but had to remove the radio to get it through the defrost vents.

 

I used the tundra usb/aux input and wired it to my pioneer unit, works for thumb drives and with ipod cable

nutty as hell. I have the SAME sound shocker set up powered by the SAME mp3 player! I never bothered with drilling holes though- I just unplug and play cd sometimes for cleaner look.

 

There's already a hole in the center console where the net hooks on! Don't drill a hole in your dash that's dumb when you can make it hidden!

 

center console for me. this is just for ease of removal when im going to the gym, etc. i can control it from my HU. and ive found you can close the armrest fine on a cord w/o damage or problem to the cord/armrest.

 

That's wild .... works for me ... I've upgraded to a FUZE+ .....

This works well for me ... as stated, you cannot see where the cord leaves the AUX outlet ... that picture was taken way down low ..... as far as the net hole ... hindsight being what it is I would have used that ... the hole I drilled in console is not a big issure.

Now ...... as far as being "dumb" ...... let's see ... college graduate with a advanced degree in engineering, retired SUBLANT (i.e. Submarine Forces, Atlantic) Quality Assurance/Non-destructive Testing, 16 years as a elementary classroom teacher, currently a Registrar in public education.

If you had said, "I think that's dumb." or "I feel as though that is dumb.", that could be acceptable. Otherwise, don't tell someone that that is dumb.

 

i ran mine from my headunit back under the center console and then out the side, it just lays up in that little slot next to the shifter and if i want to move it i can just push it down between the console and the passenger seat. I didnt want to cut up my console any and this keeps it handy if i need to actually use the phone instead of the radio

I actually ended up taking the center console, the "gear shift cover", and the radio itself out and running the cable under all of this and thru the felt-y flooring of the center console. I like this idea a little better because i didn't have to make any permanent modification (except the notch for the cable to hang out, it feels awkward with the cable hanging out without the notch).
