I previously started a thread that kinda died (for my 5-lug)....

I have a FJ Cruiser now and am looking for an All-Terrain Snow Rated tire. I have done some research on the Duratracs (which is my first choice) and the BFG AT/KOs (which is my second choice). I have searched google and here on TW but didnt see anything specific. I am definitely looking for something snow-rated that can handle the New England winters. I have had a few people recommend getting a seperate winter tire set but I dont have the space to keep a set of tires..

Thanks for the help and input! Dont forget pictures! :D

The Goodyear Silent Armor is also winter rated, and from my experience is much better in the winter than the BFG. If it were me I'd just go with the Duratrac.

Thanks for the input, I just know the duratrac is $180 plus a tire. I dont know if that is high or if there is a less expensive, equally as capable, tire out there.

You won't be disapointed with Duratracs in the snow. They are worth every penny.

duratracs are the best tire i have ever seen in the snow period i personally ran them last year in the snow and they performed remarkably.

i think they are one of the best tires you can run period at mt or winter rated or not.

There's not enough bandwidth for what's happening.
The day after I had Duratracs installed, we received about 4 to 5 inches of snow where I live. I went blasting around paved roads and then up a forest road for 30 miles ... I wasn't disappointed with the tire in the least. Awesome in the snow!

My only reservation is how long of a life I get out of them. Time will tell.

I had Silent Armors on my tacoma for 50k. I did run them for one winter but even with the snowflake did not like them towing which I do a lot of in Winter. Ended up buying a dedicated snow tire. The SAs on dry pavement & rain were great.

I just bought another set of SAs for my Tundra. Right now I am not sure if I am going to keep them through winter or go with another dedicated winter tire. I did have an issue with one of the tires after 500 miles & Goodyear replaced it for they have a 30 day ride pledge. I am still not sure I am going to keep them through winter though. I am thinking Hankook ipikes studded.

Duratracs were tempting for me as well but stayed with the Silent Armors mostly for the good luck I had with the first set on my tacoma.

Great tire that you can run year round and still have plenty of confidence in the snow/winter conditions.

Duratracs will be the most aggressive tire that also officially carry the winter snowflake symbol. These get excellent reviews for traction in snow and on ice. I've seen excellent claims for mileage too.
