I agree. I think the northern states will give the lights a cool break for about 4 - 6 months of the year.

My 05 has DTRL and has had no melting problems. I hope nothing happens later on.

    Wacky.

I do not have DTRL's, but I liked the look of the parking lights actually lighting up the turn signals...

So I did the mod where you splice a wire from the side headlamp (the bulb that lights up when your parking lights are on) with the turn signal bulbs and always run with my parking lights on. (Mod information here)

2009 Taco, I've had this setup for more than a year now. No problems.

We have an '09 with 47k-miles and we don't have the brown/cracked lenses yet but they ARE melting (bubbly, fogging). And as far as I can tell, there is no way to turn these DRLs off without using your headlights instead. US model, Texas.

Yep, Only time seen stuff like that is higher wattage or HID lights were installed.
Can also be caused by incorrect lights locating the bulb closer to the outer housing.

Something as serious as headlight failure would have been recalled immediately.

Doesn't your sig say you are running HIDs?

Low beam only, not running lights (I'm assuming)

I had this issue happen to both of my lights. The dealer replaced both headlight assemblies with no questions asks. I live in south central Texas so it gets pretty damn hot here so idk if that had any effect on them.

Bizarre... My 2011 US version has DTRL that just came as part of the SR5 package, so it's not like I had a choice, but wouldn't they have fixed this by now, what with all the Canadian models and many of the US ones running these? Not to mention all the oversea models?

In a lot of places its illegal to run without drls. Is there another alternatives to this "possible" issue?

You misunderstand me. Leave the DRLs in. Take the lenses out.

What this looks like in action:

Also, by "A lot of places" you mean "California"?

    Lastly: Legal shmegal.
