this afternoon on my way home from school the tpms light came on. i got home and checked the pressure on all of the tires. they all said 20 psi. the max psi on the tire itself says 51 psi max..they r the stock 245/75r16's. keeping in mind i got this truck about 3 months ago and it only had 4k miles on it and havent touched the tires, is all the tires being at 20 psi when the max is 51psi why light is on? should i fill them to something closer to 45?

TPMS comes on at 29psi i believe. factory specs are in door sill sticker and rocomend 32 i believe. 20psi for the street is way too low. For sure look in the drivers side door sill and inflate to factory specs.

just like Maverick said, check the spare also. all 5 tires should be around 30 psi, based on your tire size

20 is way too low. Check the jamb and air 'em up and you should be fine.

My TPMS light came on the other morning, given that the temps dropped about 20 degrees here last week.

thats for the quick responses. i def shoulda thought to look in the door lamb first or even realized 20 was too low to begin with but its been a long day lol. i was concerned bc it couldnt have lost much pressure since i got it from the dealer 3 months ago. but also its been getting pretty cold at night here so maybe that was a factor. they came on after i drove 20 miles to school, drove around there for a little bit then came on as i was leaving the parking lot.. ill check all that thanks again!!

Quite possibly the cold caused em to drop a little. Mine did it for the first time the other day. The lowest tire was abt 32psi. Mine are set for 35

i think they stopped putting tpms in the spare after 09. i figure it was the cold weather. the psi is supposed to be 30 psi. hard to believe the pressue went down 10 psi just due to it getting a little colder. any way thanks guys for helping!

    oz-t where have u been???
