FJ TRD Brake Kit on Tacoma?

There's a 6-lug brake kit for FJ Cruisers. Has anyone successfully installed it on a Tacoma? Any modifications needed?

 

They're typically installed on X-Runners. It doesn't work (easily) with LT kits (not sure if that matters to you or not).

Should work fine though, since the suspension is pretty much the same (front end wise) on the FJ and the Tacoma, so it should bolt right up

Edit: According to TRD Catalog they work with a 16" Rim?

 

The X-Runner kit is 5-lug. There is no official kit for 6-lug Tacos. That's why I was asking if the FJ kit would work on a 6-lug Taco.

If it does fit, I'd be interested in doing it, Looking at the TRD Catalog it shows a FJ with a 16" Rim & the Big Brake kit, so it should work fine on a Tacoma?!

 

Since the stock brakes are powerful enough to lock up the wheels, theoretically no upgrades are necessary for "casual" use - you'll get the same stopping distance because your tires are the limiting factor. The benefit of the Stoptech kit would be better initial "bite", and better heat dissipation, so repeated panic stops from 60 mph wouldn't cause fade as quickly.

 

So the factory offroad TRD brakes are just as good as these?

 

I have installed the TRD kit on my FJ and I have to say it is not worth the money but they look nice. For about 1/3 of the price you can get a kit from Supreme Power that will give you about the same slotted and dimpled rotors. Another big improvement is changing your lines to SS. You can also upgrade the fluid to DOT 5.1 for the highest boiling point.
