AAL INSTALL HELP!

I am midway through putting in 5100s on the rear and an AAL but i can't get the leaf holes to line up for the centering pin. I've been stuck on it for about an hour now so any pointers would be useful. I can get the overload, the new AAL, and the next leaf lined up but the next two are about a centemeter or two off each from one another so it staggers as it goes up. Can't get it to line up with any sort of clamps or jacking...

Anyone got any help!?

 

I had the same problem....put both your feet on the leaf pack, push and move the axle with your hands, should instalntly go in.

 

put a screwdriver through all the leaves. Then using a c-clamp, clamp everything together. Remove screwdriver, insert pin.

 

Whoops, wrongpart, you will need to know that also though, just slide th leafs until they are lined up, jack up the axle till there is some tension and slid the pin in

clamp everything including aal together with a long screw driver through the hole to keep it lined up.

 

attempting this now... i think i need a beefier screwdriver.

 

Clamp it all together at once, then after that the leaf centering pin will most likely not line up with the hole in the axle, but it will work if you force it.

 

The screw drive is only to keep it aligned. A normal one should be fine.

Had similar problems--align w/screwdriver--MUSCLE IT IN.
Thought I was going to break something--NO--It needs perswasion.

 

just got the top two aligned but the add a leaf overload and bottom of the original pack are still misaligned:

 

Hopefully you have your jack stands on the frame. All ya need to do is push the axle housing a lil to line it up.

 

Pick up the overload and slide it to the right and clamp the pack together...worry about mounting it in the axle hole later

 

hmm i'm moving it around in all directions and nothing is lining those top two up...

 

if i move the overload then the middle leaf still wont line up and it's out of reach with my screwdriver, keeps bending. can i hammer the leaf back some from the front?

 

I used a hammer and hit the c clamp on the sides to slide the middle leaf

 

also on the add a lead should the longer side of the centering hole go forwards or backwards?

 

hammering lined it up!! now just about the front vs back sides...

 

I've had It both ways, makes no difference, but toytec says long end facing back, I had it the other way to prevent axle wrap

 

^This. Your making it hard on yourself, especially with that clamp. C clamps are best for this job. Get the axle out of the way, clamp the whole pack together while centering with a screwdriver or 1/4" socket extension, bolt it and put the axle back in position.
